Radar Detectors.....

Laser. Is no warning. I've been using passports 8500 then 9500ix for past 5 years.  They work.

I am currently using a passport smart radar, and it has been working great for me it does an excellent job at picking up lasers from my experience even tho they probably already have a reading on me. It also has great range and is nice and concealed from the outside of the car it looks like the rear view mirror and then on the inside all that you see is the small screen that you stick to the a corner of the rear view. Also it connects to your phone and boosts the signal of any other passport radar detectors ahead of you that have went off and gives you a warning... You do have to have your phone on and connected for that feature to work but it connects via Bluetooth.

I use waze on every road trip, my son and I travel from Houston to New Orleans at about 85 mph avg.  Motor trend or road and track I believe drove a red Ferrari from east to west using only waze, at triple digit speeds and never got pulled over.  I'm gonna look for the article :)

I average about 1100 miles per week for the last 20yrs. I've been utilizing a Valentine 1 since they came out. Yes there have been several up grades over the years.  The combination between Waze and a good radar/laser detector is hard to beat. I'm unsure about laser jammers but deal enough with DC and VA cops I don't Wana be pulled over with that in my vehicle. I don't use either on my Harleys. Waze always saves my bacon on the PA turnpike....

Currently run the V1 just like a lot of other folks here, had been great with arrows, bogey counter, type of band, amazing!

+1 to the V1

I have started to run the waze app in addition to my detector based on this thread and suggest others do to.

Has anyone tried the new escort360 with the arrows?

My V1 is coming up on 8 years old.  Arrows don't work since it's fell from the windshield mounts so many times.  Need to send it for repair someday.  I have mine hardwired to the fuse panel with an add-a-fuse.  Very easy.

Are there any cheap detectors that are good?  I'm looking at keeping one permanently in each of our cars so I don't have to keep moving the V1 around depending on which car we take.  I'd probably buy a used V1 for $200 if possible.

I feel sorry for the Florida and Georgia guys. After a trip from STL to Naples and back I was shocked how many speed traps there were. Used to make this drive all the time about 10 years ago, its much worse now. Waze didn't let me down, didn't get a single ticket!

Your drivers also suck, its as if the lanes are reversed, no one is in the right lane, everyone sits in the left and then people blast up the right lane at 100+mph...WTF? I was in the center lane with a car in the right about 2 lengths in front of me, some guy drove through that gap at 20-30mph over our speed, nuckin futs!

Its even worse in the rain. So the consensus from this thread is valentine 1? Better than the escort passport then?

They both make great detectors and have strong followings.  If you have friends that use either one or both I would suggest borrowing them and see which one you like better.

I'm pretty excited that the new escort has directional arrows and a bogey counter. The one thing I do miss from my old one is the smart cord, so much easier to hit the mute button than on the V-1.

$650 is damn steep though.....

I love my passport max. I borrowed a V1 from a friend to try and it was just so noisy, especially since I live in the city. The Passport Max is the quietest detector I've ever owned. And yes, I hate the stupid airplane speed traps we have here in FL.
