I second the obdlink  MX and the torque app. It can approximate horsepower and torque ratings based on the acceleration numbers but you need to know the weight of your car. Even then it's just an estimate.

Yes it is a calculation/estimate for HP & Torque which does not factor in mechanical resistance or wind drag or I'm guessing here, road angle (up or down hill).  So it is limited and a bit crude.  On the plus side, there is a vehicle profile for car weight and other adjustable variables. You can set up more than one vehicle profile to easily swap display and dongle from one ride to another. All in all I am pretty impressed with the Torque app. There is a forum for the app where you can go for some guidance and the app developer will respond personally (he did for me) to questions in a pretty timely manner.

I have a DashHawk that I leave plugged in. I can show up to 8 functions, but only watch 2-4 on the road.  I also found a splitter that allows OBD output into 2 devices at a time so I can log at the strip and still watch the Dashhawk readings.

Unfortunately DashHawks are no longer made.

Now they are quoting a July 12th shipping date for the MX!  They took my money fast enough already.

You know... Ford is starting to release sdks for mytouch. May be possible to display that there.

Cancel your order, I'll have an option for us by end of week with great pricing on a GOOD bluetooth OBD2 adapter. I'll have mine tonight and I'll test for everyone.

I emailed them and they said it would ship tomorrow.  Friday.  Hope to have it so I can play with it over the long weekend.  I will be interested in how your test goes. We can compare.  Maybe it will help some of the guys looking into them.

Just got the shipping notice for my Scantool MX!  YEEHAW!

EDIT-Actually shipped yesterday.  Due tomorrow!

Oooooo that could be very interesting depending on what data it has access to. With using my phone for music and gps that nice big monitor is about useless besides seat heat/cool controls.

Got the MX today!  Will report as soon as I get done playing with it!

Had a great time playing with my Scantool MX and Torque Pro.  The only problem was that I couldn't read my boost.  It seemed to always be in a vacuum when I looked at it.  I'll work on it.  I did a few 0-60's out on frontage road.  My best was 5.45.  The temps were 68 degrees.  I lost my "bests" when I came in the house but my 1/8th was 8.9X.  Not enough room for a 1/4.  I tried a couple different launches.  Finally broke all four loose on take off (2000-25000 rpms) with the TC off.  The 0-60 was okay but when you launch it seems to just sit for a second unless you brake torque a little.  I'm happy but expected to be closer to 5 secs.

Did the boost gauge display you chose have a little red marker it drops at the highest boost reading? The gauge title switches from vacuum to boost as soon as the needle swings past zero into positive territory.
When my zero to sixty was a bit slower than I thought it should be, I blamed it on a little brake creep just before launch. A small movement can start the clock just a bit prematurely.

I'll have to check again tomorrow Larry.  The little gauge does have a red marker but it's at zero now.  I tried putting a big digital read out on but, tomorrow I'll try a large dial.  My 1/8 wasn't too bad.  I saw another guy with a '13 PP do a 9.0XX without a tune.  I'm running Stage 4 w/o PP.  I was really hoping for a 4.9 0-60.  But, for a DD 5.45 aint too shabby.

After thinking about your boost gauge experience, I just don't think you have set it up right yet. There are choices to make in multiple places and I remember it took me a couple of tries before I did everything right. If it continues to be problematic for you we can compare menu screen option choices on mine till you get the right combination.

Thanks Larry.  I think it's fine.  I only spent a couple minutes with it before I had to run out and do a 0-60.  I'll be playing with it some more today.

Download and install track recorder. Make sure to go into torque options and then units and set to all us units.
The right gauge for boost status vacuum/boost gauge, almost at end of list.

Sent from my phone with lots of misspelled words...

Thanks that's great.  The only problem is that my Nexus only has a back facing camera.  I'll try it on the phone.

Got it!  Thanks!

Now all I have to do is figure out how to mount all these contraptions.

Just got done playing with my toys.  I had a little problem measuring boost.  It would only go up to zero!  Well, the genius that he is, 4DR helped me figure it out.  When I put my SHO profile in, I configured the boost @ 14.7 (for atmosphere).  Should have been zero.  So I took her out on the tollway and registered 14psi on the nose!  Yeehaw!  Thanks Mike!  U da man!
