Re: The Tremor is born!!! RCSB FX2 Ecoboost

Yes, only 2 wheel drive, again ala Lightning, but if it were 4WD then it would complete with the Raptor...I guess....

You can get a 4x4 RCLB right now, or 4x4 any other cab you want as well, extended or super crew. For guys who want to race the regular cab shortbed was not orderable. 4x4 would be sweet for street racing. :)

The Tremor is a move into the right direction for a sport truck but they whiffed on a couple aspects:
-Wheel/tire package needed to be addressed with more of a street truck look and tire width
-Suspension should have been dropped or at least available as an option, otherwise don't you just have a 2WD Ecoboost equipped truck?

You can't buy a regular cab short bed Ecoboost powered truck :) Only Regular cab long bed or one of the extended cab options (SCREW or SCAB)

You got me there. Just wish they would not have gone half way on this thing and would have committed to something more along the lines of the Lightning.

The biggest difference being that you cannot get a regular cab F150 with a short bed.  It HAS to be an 8' bed.  In this case you get a combination that hasn't existed in the newer body styles.  You get a regular cab with a 5.5ft box.  The fact that you can get a 4x4 and a 4x2 option means that the Tremor will appeal to both the sport truck and the offroad crowd.  If I were to get one personally it would be a 4x4 model that I would lower and mod the heck out of to be a drag truck.  The rumors are that the 4x2 version will weigh in around 5,000lb.

I think the 4x2 tremors will be as fast stock for stock as the last Gen Lightnings.  They will make around the same power on premium fuel (remember the ecoboost makes 365/420 on 87) and the 6 speed auto we have is lightyears better than the 4r70w when it comes to keeping the truck in its power sweet spot.

I'm seriously considering buying an 09 RCSB 5.0 truck (cheap!!! like $8K) and then getting a junk yard ecoboost engine and ECU (tranny is the same).
Since I intend to tub and ladder bar the rearend, kind of a waste to buy a $38K truck and cut it up.

I just think at what will be a $40,000+ point of entry for this truck in 2WD guise that there should have been more of a nod towards performance in the wheel/tire and suspension departments. Outside of offering the short bed in the regular cab, the boys at Ford did not add much content to make this Tremor package.

You also can't get the console and shift on console scenario in the RCSB before, so that's pretty cool. :)

Well I think they wanted it to function as a real truck also. Which is one of the reasons we like it.

Pretty cool truck.  The 2wd option as stated would be nice in a lowered more street wheel/tire combination like the Lightning.
A lowered 4wd would be killer since you get all the traction you need.

I actually really like my paddles... they get the job done, holding gears on curvy roads and mountain passes, and shifts are quick and clean.
