Rear level extremely low

I've noticed that the rear level of sound is exceptionally low compared to the front.  In order to get "equalized" sound, I have to set the F/R fader to about 2/3rds of the way to the rear.  This is affecting the rear doors and rear deck speakers.

Any idea what would cause something like that?

Did you check and make sure the surround mode is not on?
I did, and there's a noticeable difference in whether the voices come out of the doors vs the single rear center channel.  But it didn't change the sound level, which is noticeably lower compared to the fronts.

Rear deck speakers are subs and a center channel only. If I remember correctly the center has 68uf cap on the + lead which would be around 350hz crossover point.

So it's just used as rear "fill"

Yes, all audio mutes with the car in reverse and the sensors going off.  After a few days, it seemed to have resolved itself.  I played with the fade front/rear and adjusted it out, and now I can center it in the image, and it sounds normal.
