Rear springs install - Problem!

I am trying to do the lowering spring install for the rear of my '13 SHO PP (going to Eibachs).

My problem is that I can't find the 'sweet spot' so that the lower control arm bolt will slide out.
How far should I be jacking this up??
I have jacked up the control arm to the point that it is lifting the body off of the jack stands - That can't be right.

I guess I could unthread it, but am concerned that I will never get it back in.

Any suggestions?

thanks!

you jack up the control arm just to the point that you're taking off the tension of the spring from pushing down on the bolt. the control arm will barely move up when you do this. if you're compressing the spring then you've gone too far.

Well - I tried it again tonight - Just barely jacking up on the control arm - At no point did the bolt feel released of pressure.
There is no way that this bolt is going to just 'slide out'.
I could unthread it, but I have stripped way too many bolts this way over 30+ years of working on cars.

Off to a shop, I guess - I hate that (spending $$ for something that I should be able to do, and never sure that they did it right)

Sometimes its better to take it to a shop...hate to say it, wait a sec, actually i dont hate to say it.....dont be worried about the work that the shop does...you are having a hard time removing a bolt on a control arm...when you are in over your head you should not be concerned with the work of a professional mechanic

I believe those direct URLs only work if you have already cached the image in the browser.  So to view it "offline" you would have to save it separately somewhere :(
