S&B filters CAI?

I recently purchased a S&B filter to replace my K&N filter on my CAI. Btw the S&B seems way superior to the K&N. I spoke to them about their CAIs and they might be developing a CAI for the transverse EBs. Their CAIs seem really well built and are sealed and typically use the oem air point. No sucking air for the hot engine compartment. If you are interested drop them an email, I am sure if they get enough interest it will get moved to the front of the line.

Oh one other thing, I am using the Outerwears Performance pre filter.  Just in case of water and helps keep the filter clean. Seems like a good product

I think Tomc uses their filter, and bpd had inquired previously (year or more ago, unsuccessfully) about getting them to make products for the EB.  Glad this is now on their frontburners :)

Hope you see improvements in sound and/or performance.  Looking forward to updates, including install pics!

Yea their filters are really nice... JLT uses them exclusively (biggest cai name in mustangs)

I will be replacing my k&n with one when it gets dirty, and if they ever offer their own cai ill replace my typhoon.

No real difference in sound, performance seems about the same as the K&N with their prefilter. I guess the big difference come in filtering the air. The K&N uses only 2 layers of media, where the S&B uses 8. Also the S&B is available with the power stack. Giving you more surface area, when I did my research it apparently flows the same as the K&N and filters better. Just trying to keep the inside clean too ;). As I drive it I'll let you guys know. I do like the fact on the S&B the power stack opening points toward the fender well. If it makes a difference? Who knows, either at the track or on a dyno would be the only way to tell. But I don't feel that it's holding the engine back with the additional layers of media. I have not been impressed with K&N as of late.

I sent an email to JLT  onMay 14th they said they had no plans for us then .
If enough people contact them it would help I think as they do make good stuff .

Kevin,
Nothing in the works as of now.  I am copying Jay who designs our kits on
this so he is aware of the interest.

I'm curious if you would consider production  of A true CAI for the 2010
-2014 Taurus SHO there is a large demand from members at
http://www.ecoboostperformanceforum.com/index.php for Someone to step up to
th plate and make a high quality CAI for us similar to the one that you have
for the 3.7 mustang ..browse the forum link and search CAI , the demand is
there for something better than AirAid or K&N .

Thank you Kevin  aka  swamprat

I got a response from Karl at S&B last week, I guess they are getting some requests which is a good thing. His response that Engineering has started looking into the EB and may be developing a kit. What we need to do is spam them with requests. "If you bug them they will build it." I think someone famous said that. :)
if I am not mistaken the Flex, SHO, MKS and Explorer sport all use the same intake?

I emailed back and forth with their engineering team, hopefully we can get this done.
Explorer sport slightly different, all others same intake.
I hope they make it, I've been a dealer for them since 1999 :)

Interesting K&N uses the same intake for the SHO and the EB Explorer.

what type of "CAI" are we talking about here ? short useless Airaid / K&N Typhoon style, or larger metal Fastlane / Hennessey style for $1K ? :)

I'll e-mail them either way to see what they might develop. I'll buy one if the benefits justify the cost.

Hopefully something that does more than look and sound good. Like the K&N. The stuff S&B build looks like it will fit the bill.

Airaid are different part #'s, assuming because of the hood clearance?

Yea s&b intakes that I have seen keep the filter in a box with a clear plate so you can see if its dirty.
The box obviously isolates the filter amd they usea big snorkel into the fender for cool air.
At least on the mustangs its done this way.

I sent S&B a link to this thread, if anyone is interested time to speak up. The costs of their CAI's seem in line with K&N and Airaid. But seem better built and better functionality. I'd really like to see a true CAI solution for our cars and trucks.
