Scanner - Do we have one for the Ecoboost?

Let me start by stating I was spoiled with my GP GTP. I bought a tuner and used a seperate scanner that ran on a palm pilot. I could pick from over 200 PID's to scan and log. I then could export the file to an Excel spreadsheet and compare the differences. It was very helpful  ;D

I have Torque on an old Android phone but it just doesn't give me what I want. Is there another scanner available?

I use Torque but it doesn't have a few parameters (like knock) which I am sure you scanned if you had a GTP. (Had an 04 myself modified) I was able to figure out how to read knock sort with Torque on the Taurus. I would love trans and/or oil temp.

There is something at the site forscan.org which I haven't played with yet but looks promising. If they have the extended Ford PIDs past 09 and they make an iPhone app I will be checking it out for sure.

FORScan works really well if you don't mind pluging into a laptop. It's able to access a ton of PID's. and it's free!

Add me to the Grand Prix GTP club.  Have a powertuner and an aeroforce scan gauge.  Would like to see what the Lund tuner is going to include for my sport...

Your torque doesn't read knock? Mine does. But I'm running torque pro.

I've got pro as well. Almost positive it wouldn't. Maybe Ian added it and I missed it? Will have to check now!

There's a "knock detector" symbol right next to the map view symbol.

Can you attach a screen shot? I don't see that on mine and I have pro.

Ahh the knock detector plug in. Yes I've seen it. Couldnt calibrate it because you can't go full throttle in park? How did you get past that? I am really after the PID for knock and this Torque plugin uses a method that tries to measure it indirectly. I get how it works in theory but am not sure how accurate it would be? I do actually have a PID that I believe is knock but I don't have scaling or equation for it. I use it but am not 100% sure it works either.

I'm curious guys.  Will a tuned SHO waste a tuned GTP?
Just a tune with no supporting mods on a GTP...heck yes you would destroy it. Mine had head work, cam, exhaust intake, full headers, and a smaller pulley. It would have been a race with just a tuned SHO (well not actually because it was FWD and from a stop you would destroy me with the AWD).  Now that said there are GTPs in the 11s and faster but those are heavily modded. GTPs didn't have an intercooler from the factory so you had to watch your boost. They were just playing with e85 when I sold mine so it's possible things have improved. Traction was always my limiting factor.

I'd say yes.  But depends on how you spend the money on each.  basic tune on each SHO all the way.  But if you bought a GTP for 5K and put the other 30K spent on a new SHO into mods then you'd be way ahead on the GTP....but it's still now going to = the newer improved vehicle for overall features.

Another shot from FORScan, the PID list is the most detailed I have yet seen. The only limitation is that you need a cable and a laptop. But for the serious tuner it's a great tool. Also wireless systems from my experience are great for snapshots but logging they leave something to be desired as the latency is not the greatest.

Can a GTP beat a SHO. Yes.

There are GTP's in the 8's in the 1/4 mile (ZZP vender car). For $2000 an '04 GTP added a turbo in place of the SC and ran in the 11's.

They do have one HUGE weakness as mentioned earlier. Traction.

This version of the SHO is still in it's infancy when it comes to mods. The sky is only the limit if vendors decide to support the R&D on upgrades.
