SCT Errors

Just wanted to throw this one out in case anyone else has the issue. Mod's, feel free to move, the SCT section was empty so I didn't think it would get much visibility there. I received a new revision from Torrie today and proceeded to download it to my PC, then transfer to my SCT x4. Upon flashing it I received a General Error #11099. I tried removing and reinstalling the tune on the SCT x4, same error. I was about to disconnect the battery on the car when I thought it be best to try loading a previous revision first. It flashed without error. I went back to my PC, deleted the revision in question, re-downloaded it from email and this time everything worked. Somehow it was corrupt when downloading it the first time.

Side note, I have flashed tunes to many cars but this one makes me sweat every time! Some weird **** always happens, fans turning on, everything going black, delays that I sweat through thinking it is stuck. On this last flash my gas tank showed empty, it went about half way towards where it is actually at after a short drive, not sure what that is about. Temp always says 24 degrees after a flash, just makes me nervous.

Merry Christmas,

Scott

I wouldnt worry..mine does the same and alot of the crazy stuff are just self checks and controls initializing.

Are you sure you had the ignition in the on position?..i thought that is the error number for that

I tried it about every way possible so I assume I had it right at some point. It wasn't until I re-downloaded the tune that it worked first time, as it did every other time I have flashed it. My last two cars have had the fob and push button start which adds a bit of confusion to the process, especially when the on screen instructions talk about turning the key to a particular point.

I've never had a problem flashing and never seen anyone having issues in the forum but it is unnerving when it does some of the weird crap.

Thanks,
Scott

Talk to Torrie, see if he thinks it's an SCT hardware problem, might need an exchange.
I had to send my sct tuner back for warranty work just after 1 flash. Was showing a weird com error. Get on with sct and they can remote into your computer while on phone with them and diagnose issues. Then, if they can't fix it (and it's a problem with the tuner) they can create an rma right then.
Otherwise, contact Torrie like SHOdded mentioned, but I'd go to SCT first.

Yeah I will if it happens again. Given it worked with other tunes, and then worked after re-downloading the tune that was giving me an error, I have to assume it was a corrupt tune.

Everything is current.  In process of trying to fix it I completely deleted updater, re-downloaded, and updated again.  I also completely reset the hand held and updated its firm ware.  Still an a-hole when trying to delete tunes off it.

You shouldn't have to, just make sure to put the current tune on the device.

In my instance of I arrowed one tune over and hit program I got errors. If I arrowed all of them then it removed them all. Your stock tune isnt in that box.

so after loading a new tune onto x4 went out to car to upload. x4 says "device comm error" unable to establish communications. make sure device is operating with proper firmware.

so went and hooked it back up to puter get same message. updater wont recognize it....nothing. after about 15min it reboots itself and comes up with same message but now updater recognizes it but no tune version listed on device. see included pic. no tunes listed on device or anything but it would let me update it. wont do that yet because its still married and I have a feeling that would make my situation worse. so just wondering if anyone else has had this and is it fixable or do I just need to call sct tech? and yes I realize the thread is old but it fits the topic.

well just found out that if you get this error and the light on bottom of the x4 is flashing green twice and red twice your x4 took a ****.

I just tried to delete some custom tunes from my X4 and can't do it.  I keep getting an error.  I have done it in the past so I am not sure what has changed.

Advice??

Deleting directly from the X4?  What error are you getting?  Firmware up to date?

Yes, X4 hooked to computer and updater software open where you can add or delete custom tunes.  There is no error number...just says "failed."  I guess I need to return to stock and try the update?

That might work ... not sure why you'd HAVE to return to stock.  What version of Windows are you using?  Windows 10 has been known to throw a curveball now and again.  The updater definitely recognizes the X4 without any issues, right?  How many unlocks do you have left on the X4?  wondering if somehow it is "locked"?

I am sure AJP/FoMoCo/SBS/... will know the answer tho.

My X4 is new and has only been married to my car.  I am still on Windows 8.1 and I have added several tunes over the past week or so and even deleted a couple earlier.  I just added a new tune with no issues and decided to delete those that I knew I wouldn't use but cannot get them deleted from the device.

I returned my car to stock since it is going to the dealer for warranty work.  Before doing that, I did click on the "check for updates" tab on the X4 and got a warning to make sure the car had been returned to stock prior to checking for updates.
