Slop in transmission 2014 Explorer Sport

74k on the vehicle.  When it down shifts from 40mph on down, I can "feel" the shifts as it comes down to 0mph.  Also, if I'm in stop and go traffic, I can feel the transmission clunking around between gears.  Feels loose and that there is a lot of slop in it.  Sounds clunky and you can really feel the shifts.  I had the front tranny mount replaced about 5k ago and that made it slightly better.

Not sure what else it could be.  Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Could be the TSS/OSS sensors, or could simply need a change in transmission fluid.  The OEM tune does have some slop in it but it should not be that bad.

Try doing a KAM reset , see if the PCM relearn helps any.  Also pull codes from the PCM before any resets.

Thanks for the input.  I will pull the negative battery cable and let it reset - correct?  Otherwise, what else can I do to reset things?  Have space this afternoon, so appreciate the input.

Considered a BG fluid exchange service.  May do that if they tell me the mounts are solid on the tranny/engine.

Thanks!

The "reset" did not help one bit.  Ugh.  Having the rear diff flushed Monday.  Do the tranny with synthetic product at next oil change - 3k away...

Typically, the suspects for harsh downshifts are incorrect solenoid body strategy, physical issues with the valve body, or the clutch assemblies.  check w/ dealer for updated PCM/TCM calibrations & SB strategies.

Also how far have you driven the vehicle since the KAM reset?

About 300 miles in mixed highway/city travel.  The rough downshift is slowing from 60 and the downshift at 40mph is noticeable...
