Spare Tire Well

Has anyone put a full size spare tire in their taurus, SHO or not? The Performance Pack has the mobility pack but that wont help in some situations and I would like to buy 5 aftermarket rims so that I have one to use as a spare in the trunk, but I dont have access to many tools where I am at so if it wont fit from the factory I am SOL. Thanks for any help or advice (if it wont fit, I will look into getting a factory ford donut and jack)

It will fit, however, make sure that when you do buy a spare that it is the same diameter as the tires on the car itself. Otherwise, you may be toasting those PTU gears or differentials or whatever they call them now these days.

Thank you for the info!

I plan to get Drag DR-37s, which are 20x8.5 with 38mm backspacing on all 4 corners, so I will get 5 just to be safe, I will be keeping the original tire size of 245/45/20

A fullsize spare should fit in the wheelwell, you may have to deflate the tire a bit though.  So you should have a tire inflator handy JIC.

Full size spare will be wider so the spare cover will not fit flush in the trunk like the donut.
I carried one on vacation last year.  Doesn't really affect trunk space.

Thanks guys! The Performance pack adds the mobility kit (I think), which I believe means I get a little 12V air compressor instead of a spare. SO I should be able to air it up no problem!

Good to hear all of the feedback!
