2.3 4 banger. 3.5EB will not go be in the mustang. Your choices will be 3.7 at 300/270ish, 2.3EB 300/300, and 5.0 420+.
A lot of people crave for a 2nd coming of the SVO. I was around back when that car came out, I was in highschool. It was more expensive than a 5.0 GT and got it's ass thoroughly trounced in a competition of speed, unless it got twisty. I chose a 1985 light regetta blue GT 5spd. I did like the 4wheel disc and 5 lug wheels on the SVO though.
