Taurus SE or SEL tail lights wanted

I'm having an issue with the trim on my tail lights. One of them is peeling, no surprise whatsoever. I don't want to plasti dip the trim, or replace them with something that will peel again. I would like to get my hands on some non chrome trim tail lights from a 2010 to 2012 Taurus SE or SEL.  Anyone want to trade? I'll give you mine plus some cash to replace the one that's peeling. Anyone know where I can get some for cheap?

Can't help you but I agree.  I only have a couple of very small spots on mine where it peeled.  I wish they would have used the base tail lights.  They look perfectly fine to me.  After 2010, that would have been the smart thing to do.

I had the same idea. My service writer told me that the black trim non chrome ones peeled also so I gave up the swap idea.

I think the 2013 have no trim? But anyways, since the non chromed ones peel also, and ext warr won't replace them, I will just plasti dip them. Cheaper on my wallet.

What peels on the non chrome trim lights?

I was told that the black trim that covers the same area as the chrome trim on the '10 was having peeling issues similar to the chrome. This is not my first hand experience, just repeating what my service manager told me when I was exploring the idea of replacing my peeling chrome tails with the lower level black trim ones. I'm usually not too gullible but these guys have been pretty straight and fair with me over the last couple of years so I thought it sounded entirely possible and I believed them.

I'm with you. There is a 2010 to 2012 Taurus SEL at the Chevy dealership right by my house.  I pulled in the lot on my way to work to get an up close look. The red lens extends all the way around with no trim. I wonder if I remove the trim in mine, would they essentially be the same?  I'll have to experiment.

Now that is an interesting question!

I'm pretty sure you can sand the chrome off and paint or plasti-dip.  But the trim "ring" that is chromed will not come off.  It is all one piece with the lens. MJH is working on a plan for these that promises to be a good way to go.  We'll see what he comes up with.

Some of the things I need are scheduled to arrive on Jan. 2nd so I should be able to get started on this project shortly after that.
