Thanks for having me. May I tell you a story?

Hi, my name is Bo. When I joined this forum in 2015, I had a 2014 Fusion Titanium with the essential mods to get the car to go. I love, love, loved that car! Unfortunately, on July 13, I was hit at a 45 degree angle on the driver's side by a fresh-off-the-lot 4-day old 2016 Honda Accord. I was travelling 35 mph and didn't see her coming. And POP! a bright white flash, sparks and antifreeze everywhere. My Fusion took a hit with a combined speed of almost 70 mph. The Accord was now a Honda Accordion. Smashed all the way to the windshield. I was dazed and hurting, (I hate having my breath knocked away). Separated ribs, neck and back soft tissue injury. Bruised head and side. But my Fusion kept me alive. She gave herself for my life. The damage to the two vehicles was like night and day. The honda had lost structural integrity to the point that the lady had a broken arm and teeth knocked out. My Fusion, not so much. Funny story; When I was being cared for by the paramedics at the scene, a sheriff and a city police officer came over and asked where I wanted it towed to. In my daze, I actually said "I'll just drive it home." The looks I got. They knew I had been knocked at that point. They both said "No, you won't be going anywhere in this". That was my first feeling of loss over my car. My B-E-A-utiful Ruby Red Fusion Titanium hotrod, gone. When the body shop looked at it, the door wells were wavy on all four doors, the door sills pushed in almost the the seat, the roof buckled,  the engine cradle was shifted. And I walked away!
Now that I got the tear jerking stuff out of the way. I now have a new baby! A new 2016 Fusion Titanium AWD! Jet black exterior with a white and graphite interior. Has every option. It even has cold ac on the seats. Sunroof, Sync 3, 19" wheels with wide grippy tires. Yum yum yum.
I am now starting the mods. I had the windows tinted so far. 17% on all. Blacked out. Nothing else.
I figure I was toying with 275hp on the 2014 FWD. My target is higher with this one. Maybe 400hp? I have found through my years that the best way to not waste money is to set a monthly budget and buy one or two upgrades at a time. Here's my overall point: I would cherish all of your opinions and input as I build this future screamer. Please think of this as an Ecoboostperformanceforum project from the ground up. We have a great canvas to start. OK, what should be the very first thing to do?

Tune, right off the bat. Make sure you buy the programmer from a place that will support all of your planned future mods.

Bo regarding his car sitting there in a mangled mess...

It's only a flesh wound, lol.

Honda Accordian, good one!

Glad the car kept you safe and you at least got an AWD upgrade out of your ordeal.

Wow, just wow!  Bo, so glad you made it through and have joined our community of Ecoboosters :thumb:  Certainly we will help you get the most out of your car, we have a couple of stalwart Fusion owners here as well, the most recent being AnotherGreenFusion.  You can follow his adventures here:

Again, welcome, and stay out of trouble LOL!

Welcome aboard to the forums! Another Fusion owner in Ohio. It...always sucks to lose a well loved car due to an unfortunate accident. But at least you are okay, and now you have something even greater!

I too, can offer suggestions on upgrading the 2.0L Fusion. But if you want a good power improvement for the dollar, a tuning device is the first thought.

Welcome again, and hope your new Fusion serves you well!

Welcome to another fusion owner! Sorry to hear about your rough experience, hope all is ok now. I have all kinds of info if you want to mod.

You can find all the basic info you need on fusion tuning options here: http://www.fusionspec.net/articles.html/guides/engine-tuning-information-guide-r26/

Also check out http://2gfusions.net most active Fusion community after the FB groups.

I suggest either Unleashed or a local dyno tune with Ecoboost experience. If you want a simple "plug and play" kind of tune go for Livernois. There are a bunch of differences between the tuner hardware and the tuners themselves so it is hard to say which is "best" so I suggest reading up and making the call. Whatever your choice you will be very happy with a tune!

General upgrade order for the 2.0 is Tune>IC>DP

You will need new plugs gapped to 0.030 and I also suggest a 160-170* T-Stat. We get heatsoak very badly and the T-Stat helps a ton.

That will make you pretty quick, after those three if you want more there are lots of options but I would suggest setting some goals before going further than those three mods.

Finally get your oil changed for something other than the blend junk they put in and replace the fluids in your Transmission, PTU and RDU, you won't regret it!

Enjoy the new fusion!

OK. What tuner do you all suggest?

Actually, just realized you mentioned having a 2016 Fusion now. I believe you'll be best to choose between Livernois or SCT and Unleashed Tuning. I've read Cobb AP support was pretty much dropped on Fusions, so I personally would stay away from it.

Livernois isn't just a standard off the shelf tune, they still give you unlimited updates and modification tweaks for the life of the vehicle married. It's perhaps one of the most simple and straightforward devices to get a very good performing tune with.

I have not used SCT or Unleashed Tuning, but they're both well enjoyed by owners given the feedback. It is more data-logging type, so if you can frequent a local, dyno, or big open driving area (like an airport/convention center lot that won't get security after you) you can work with a tuner and gather data logs and continue tweaking things till it feels just right for you.

So looks to be a choice between Livernois and SCT Device + Supporting Tuner really.
