Time for new taillights, again

So this summer will be 2 years that I've had the SHO. The taillights had flaking chrome when I bought it and was under factory warranty so I had them replaced right away. Last summer I had them replaced again under warranty and now that it's warm I see they are flaking again. I keep asking for the SLE lights and I'll do it again this time. If they won't give me what I want then I'll just make them replace them every year. Gotta love having things under warranty!

Man, that's a nuisance, and well short of customer service in the dealership's department I'd say.  Oh well ...

So far they are sticking to the "Ford replaces like for like". I'd like to do some Lamin-x but not if I have to redo them every year. I'll just keep getting the new ones as long as they keep replacing them.

Mine are a complete disaster.  Had them replaced once under warranty but I'm out of warranty now.  May have to finally break down and get some non-chrome ones or try and plastidip.

& the bad part, with us that got an extended warranty, they aren't covered as are considered a trim item.

Oh wow. Two year part warranty.  I've got 3 days left on my part warranty then. Dealer called! Thanks for the info guys.

I just called to see if they would just order them but they need me to come in so they can get pics of them to send to Ford again.  I need an oil change anyways and have Friday off so I might as well go waste some time.

Probably can't get rid of the chromies fast enough, why else would they torture y'all with them!  Need to get a skeleton key to the parts dept and pull a switcheroo.

So my car is at the dealer for a coolant flush and tail light replacement.  Just an FYI that they are telling me that if the taillights were replaced under the factory warranty once (which they were) then the two year parts warranty doesn't apply.  They also said that the parts warranty changed to one year - which makes no sense.  He suggested I call Ford customer service so I did and they basically told me that there isn't a "known issue" with the tail lights peeling so I am out of luck...It disappoints me they won't stand behind the failure on a car this expensive when so many people are having it.  They did say (in theory) if enough people call and they document it they may issue a later recall.  I seriously doubt that will happen but if anyone wants to please call Ford at 1-800-392-3673 and let them know. :(

Too bad comments can't be submitted on a Ford site to gather such information.  You'd provide all the details as over the phone, but at your own pace, in your own time.  THAT would be friendly.

The first time I had mine replaced was under the factory warranty.  Those started peeling in about 6 months so I went back in, now out of factory warranty, and was told that technically they aren't covered but the service adviser told me that he felt I deserved an out of warranty adjustment since they failed so quickly.  He took care of it for me and now that they were replaced out of factory warranty they are covered under the 2 year parts warranty.  I guess this is just another example of a service adviser helping somebody out and having a good relationship with your dealership.

Well I'm in your shoes now. The dealership called me today when they saw what I was coming in for. They told me that when they replaced them in June it was an after warranty adjustment which means they don't have the 2 year parts warranty on them and they can do another after warranty adjustment. They told me to call Ford about it. He was really cool about it and said they could make the claim but it'll just be denied and that I would have a better chance complaining about it than he would. I got all my paperwork together for the past replacements and called tonight. I had them replaced 9/30/2013 and 6/11/2014. They said they escalated my claim to a local rep and I would get a call within 24 hours. We will see what this gets me.

Sorry to hear. Try asking them how many they have replaced. I can't believe there aren't a ton of these.

My gripe is that the website doesn't specify warranty and neither do the posters up in the dealership I used earlier this weak... simply repair parts/labor... for 2 years...  I have to cal B.S.... So call Ford.. they should keep "buying you lights".
