Well guys im shopping around for new tires. I want to not go back to the F1 supercars again.

Im looking at bf g-force sport comp 2 or hankook v12s.

Im open to any suggestions for those or any others around that price. The super sports a bit rich for my blood currently.

Im looking for summer tires only, no nead for all seasons since im in the butthole of the South (Louisiana).

Bahaha. I thought I was there---California...I know We will be the butthole of the West.

I've always had good luck with BFG G-force tires both AS and summer only.  The old Ford SVT cars used to come stock with G-force KDWs.

These are NEXEN N3000. I have a pair for DD(245x45x20)/ track (275x40x20). I learn that tire co. discontinued high performance tire every so many years just to bring out their news(at 3x the price) replace model. The NEXEN N3000 are being discontinued and you can get them for about $160 with a wear of 340 UTQG vs F1 240 UTQG. http://tireswheelsdirect.com/search_results_tires.php?size=275/40-20&ps=sizesearch

Steve - in Montreal has Hankooks... Says they are great when hooking up in cool-cold temps... Perhaps he can chime in... I have Super Sports and while mine have around 25K, when it got down to 70, they hopped on me... My Conti DW's got hard at 45 deg and lower, but never hopped.  Super Sports handle fantastic... but in straight line runs... not as impressed.  Conti DW's not as responsive in steering... but wear a bit better than Mich... SS and are also lots cheaper.  Wait for Steve's report on Hankook Ventus...

I have both tires...
Hankook V12 on the SHO (255/35) and sport comp 2 on my old mustang (245/45)

Both are great tires, quiet, great in wet weather... but I give edge to hankook in handling. Both ride well, but I feel like I can lean harder on the V12s. Yes they are soft sidewall, but it helps them ride well and ultimate grip is fantastic.
Bfg will prob last longer, but not quite as sticky.

I haven't barked a 1-2 shift since installing them lol

Also... my son has a set on one of his (6 spd stick) GTO's and loves the Hankook's.  Other one has my old Bridgestone 750's, and handling is definitely better, as is hook-up with Hankook summer only...

Not sure why no one here has mentioned the Firestone Wide Ovals, I've looked at them and am really leaning towards them.  They have a 50K treadwear warranty and I think the specs on them look fairly good.  Pricing at Tire Rack seems reasonable. Here's the link to check them out:

And since Firestone is now owned by Bridgestone, I would buy without any reservations, the last few sets of Bridgestone I owned were really outstanding, but sadly Bridgestone doesn't make a tire in a size to fit the 20" wheels.

With that awesome tread life I wonder how grippy they are?

Also does anyone have a tread life info on the hankooks?

Firestone won't hold a candle to the bfg/hankook in performance, but it will last longer.
Look at the test Tirerack did, wideoval want impressive at all.

There you go... came in last by a wide margin, where sport comp 2 finished first

I owned THOSE particular FS Wide Ovals (not the A/S ones) on my previous 2010 Flex in 255/45-20.  It was a durable tire, but cold weather (like 40 degree days) were brutally slippery and that wasn't fun.  In normal (Hot) weather here in the desert, they had OK but not great straight light traction as I was able to break them free in my FWD Flex pretty often off the line.  The cornering and overall handling was fantastic though.  They started weather-checking from the heat pretty early on, say 16k miles in and less than 2 years old.

I'm darn happy with my Toyo tires I've got on my 2013 but the model I have isn't available in 245/45-2 so I won't recommend.

If you want a real grippy tire then you can't expect great treadlife, heck, look how disappointed most have been with the Supercar F1 tires.  So I would expect the Firestones to not be as grippy, but I do like the fact that it has a 50K treadwear warranty.  Also as far as BFG's, they may do well on a test, but again my personal experience with Goodrich both with car and truck tires is that they are not very impressive, either with handling, tire life, or traction, but again, I suppose your choice of tires should really be on what you want them to do.  However, going with a Ultra High Performance tire and then complaining about them only lasting 20-30K seems strange.

I'm getting ready to replace my original Goodyear all seasons and I want to stay with all seasons in my climate. I like the 50K the Goodyears gave me. I also test drove a SHO with the OE summer tires on a cold road and I'm not interested in experiencing that again. I started reading about the new Michelin AS 3's. Seems like a perfect blend of all season cold weather capability with summer tire performance. What's not to like?

Thats the range im shooting for, I dont mind having tires last 20-30k for the trade off of good grip. But my F1s on now are pretty much done at 16k. I like the idea of the BFgs since they are rated to last longer. I dont mind trading a little grip for longevity

I haven't done a bunch of research since I don't run all seasons... but the new Hankook s1 noble2 has gotten great reviews as has the Genrral gmax as03 (heard they are noisier tho), and both are almost certainly more budget conscious than Michelins
