I also test drove a SHO with the OE summer tires on a cold road and I'm not interested in experiencing that again. I started reading about the new Michelin AS 3's. Seems like a perfect blend of all season cold weather capability with summer tire performance. What's not to like?
I haven't done a bunch of research since I don't run all seasons... but the new Hankook s1 noble2 has gotten great reviews as has the Genrral gmax as03 (heard they are noisier tho), and both are almost certainly more budget conscious than Michelins
But are they all seasons. If so I will check them out as I don't mind saving a few bucks as long as my criteria of winter reasonable and summer reasonable performance with quiet and wet handling and 45 to 50K tread life. The SHO has real bad manners on cold pavement with summer tires.
