Too much brake for 17's?

I'm to the point power wise that the f1's can't keep up. So I have been looking at drag radials for the fronts to assist in the spinning issues I now have.

I want to run the smallest wheel I can to I can get the largest sidewall tire. I stole the 17" drag radials off my wife's turbo fox body to see if they would even clear the brakes. Here's what I found...

There is technically clearance...but holy **** that's tight!  Maybe 18's are the safer size.

18s are a well established safe choice, but depending on the specific 17" wheel and willingness to shave the caliper, you could make it work.

I remember someone here running 17" with their winter wheel setup without a problem.
Edit. I think they were 2010-2012

more to come.....

I don't think I'll shave the caliper. Some times it sucks having these big ass breaks...

I'm not real comfortable about these tight clearances. I think I'll try to find some 18's. Just sucks, because I'd rather run et streets instead if et street radials.

Has anyone had success with et street radials?

The one guy I found on here running 17's is Motor, with a Limited.  He was able to move an obstructing brake hose (?) to get the 17's to fit nicely.  And then of course there is the Flex example (4DR).

We have a pretty universal bolt pattern, jump onto eBay and snag up police wheels.

EDIT: Found these, if anyone can confirm they fit it would be a good choice for all us SHO/MKS owners who need a cheap set of winter wheels.

That's a good idea. I'd have to find some 9.5" wide wheels so I can fit some tires with some width.

I talked to 4dr, he said he had to clearance the tape weights.... I don't think I have room for tape weights. 😂
