Turbo leaking oil

I noticed a couple weeks ago a smell coming through the vents after driving on the highway and getting off and coming to a stop.  Finally got the car on a lift and noticed one of the turbos is leaking oil.  It's leaking from the turbo and dripping onto the exhaust.  I'm assuming this has to be what I'm smelling through the vents.

This is on a 2010 MKS.  Other than the oil dripping, it's acting finally.  No other symptoms.  Any idea what I should do from here?  Replace the turbo right away?  Any advice where to buy a turbo to install?

Hard to tell exactly where it's coming from.  Actually, now that i take a look, they're both leaking some oil from somewhere.  Both look to generally come from around where the oil lines hook up into the turbo.

This first photo is the front one, right behind the radiator.

The second one is the turbo farther back.

Is there an actual TSB for these oil lines?  One I can print out and bring over to my mechanic?  I see it's just a couple bolts.  Is this something I can easily try fixing myself with a couple $20 oil lines and the car on ramps?

I'd like to give this a shot before having to replace the turbo because the car is running fine.

No actual TSB, only the info in the post I linked above.  You can probably grab the full info if you take a subscription to motorcraftservice.com (they have 3 day subs available I think), and take that over to the mechanic.  You would also be able to see if it's a DIY (I don't see why not for someone with mechanical skills), you can try PM'ing MDesign and see how he resolved it.

Any codes present at the moment? usually its the rear turbo line that goes bad,not to many cases do you see both lines leaking simultaneously.  Z

I'd get the bolts as well.  At least have them on standby if the need arises.  When was your MKS produced?  1/10/10 is the cutoff date for "older" replacements, so be sure to get the right pipes.

No codes or symptoms other than burning chemical smell in cabin.  And of course the oil all over the exhaust and turbo area.

Maybe both have been leaking for some time now.  I really don't know.  Oil level is fine, so it must be a really small leak.

I'll pick up the bolts too.  Might as well.  I'll have to check on the build date.

There also looks to be quite a few oil lines that go into the turbo.  I really have no clue which ones are leaking.  You think I'm good with #10 and #11 in the diagram?  Are these other lines for oil too?

I believe so.  Those are the common culprits, so might as well start with them first.  If you want to be really sure, clean them up with Simple Green or Purple Power or something similar (not sure about using engine degreaser anymore) and see where the problem is coming from.

Need the build date as SHOdded mentioned above, this is from 1/10-  Left Return Line: AA5Z-9T515-E
Right Return Line: AA5Z-9T515-G      http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-AA5Z9T515E-TURBOCHARGER-LOWER-PIPE-WITH-FREE-PRIORITY-SHIPPING-/190909179212

Build date is pre 1/10 according to Tasca when I called and gave my vin.
So pre 1/10 should be AA5Z-9T515C and AA5Z-9T515-F is Right which are a slight bit more in price compared to a job 2,best of luck.  Z

Ok thanks.  Those are the pipes I was planning on trying first.  If the lines are the issue, are these the only ones that could be leaking oil attached to the turbo or are there other possibilities?

Good idea.  I've got some purple power.  I'd assume it is, but it's safe to spray directly on the turbo and all the lines in the surrounding area?

Should be.  These are very mild cleaners.  Zep Citrus might work well also.  Just make sure to rinse it all off thoroughly and let dry after before restarting the engine.  Engine should not be too hot when applying.  Warm to the touch is ok.  Use a soft bristle brush if needed.

Ordered the parts from tasca.  Hopefully this will do the trick because I really don't want to have to buy two turbos because they're both leaking.
