Unichip

Hey all,

Has anyone had any experience with Unichip?  Their solution for the F-150 looks really slick, and I do like that it should help with dealership warranty questions.  I emailed them to see if they will be porting their solution to other 3.5 Ecoboost vehicles, but was curious as to everyone's thoughts on this.

First I have heard of the unichip. Curious as to who would tune it as not many people know much about our mappings

I would like to see some dynos and 1/4s before I spent my money on it.  My first impression is that it's a little gimmicky.

I've never heard of them.  I will say that most of the plugin chips get terrible user reviews for not doing what they advertise.  They seem to work on a few models, but not others.  Be sure to do your own  homework before you open your wallet. :drive:

This seems like it removes complete control away from the stock ECM which is very good at keeping things from blowing up.

Maybe one of the esteemed vendors could chime in on this?

i have not heard back from them, could just be the time of year, oh well.  My biggest concern with the kit was transmission line pressure, since at a given throttle position it could be making more horsepower than the ECU is expecting, resulting in premature tranny failure (I had an oiled K&N in my 96 Camaro Z-28, burnt a tranny due to oil covered MAF).  I guess at this point I wait until next year when my warranty is over and talk to Torrie.  It is just so hard waiting :)
