What happens when you lock your key in your car...

We had a wash kid lock a Taurus running. For shits and giggles I grabbed my Flex key, stuck it in the lock and with a little wiggle it opened the door !! Didn't turn ignition tho. Used to try that trick at a GM dealer I worked at..

And I did not pay for the original service either.  My roadside assistance that costs me $2 per month did.  So this really hasn't cost me a dime, just a few years off my life expectancy :)

You could always have a spare key made and put it in your wallet. Of the little key in the fob that is.

Sent using smoke signals.

This exact same thing happened to me two months ago except the tow operator was more gentle with his technique. Washed the car with key FOB inside > it locked itself when washing > I know my keypad code off by heart but it would not work ... but I have been having trouble with keypad for some time now and I think it's a short between the 7/8 0/9 button cause I can lock the doors by ONLY PRESSING THE 7/8 BUTTON.

Since he broke the clips on the keypad panel I am getting a new one, which should eliminate the possibility of an electrical fault.  I looked under the dash and found the 5 digit factory code.  It didn't work when I just tried it, so maybe there is an issue with my keypad!
