White smoke after I let off after WOT

So I raced my buddy today, nothing serious, stock 2013 sonata lol. But he said after I let off, a swirl of white smoke came out of my exhaust. I floored it a 2nd time, and he said the same thing happened. I had probably been driving for about 15 minutes at this point.

Car has almost 70k miles, and been on Stage 4 93octane tune since around 30k miles. Around 60k miles I did new plugs. Car also doesnt have any cats.

New turbos in my future? Car seems to run the same it always has for the last 2 years.

Sounds like a similar thing to what srt8ecoboost was asking about.  If it all checks out good.  May just be the lack of cats

Yea, I need to have my wife drive it, and I follow her, so I can see exactly how much smoke there is. Buddy just said, I tiny swirl. lol

Probably harmless with catless pipes.  Not on methanol yet, right?  Coolant level OK?  How does it look inside the intercooler?  If there is condensate there and watery, the water would also be present in the PVC recirculates entering the combustion chamber, leading to white smoke from the tailpipe.

Im not on Meth. Havent checked out anything on the car, besides looking at the exhaust tips as I walked inside. They looked normal/even coat of black on the inside, no oil build up on the bottom.

Car doesnt get driven as much, but I drove it to dinner last night, and drove it work 2 days ago (45minutes one way).

Temp has been in the mid 80s for about a week now.

Still havent looked into it any further as far as the engine goes.

But, after getting home from driving for about 1/2 hour, I had the wife hop in and drive, and I took the other car, we got out on to the empty highway and she did a couple WOT pulls with me behind her. After several 35-65mph pulls, there would be a tiny amount of white smoke(very small amount, suprised my buddy saw it) but it wouldnt start until after she had let off the gas for about 5 seconds.

So floor it 35-65, let off, 5 seconds later a little bit of white smoke, that would also last about 5 seconds, then it would go away.

We also tried several different levels of accelerating, and it never happened, or it was too minimal for me to see. So its only at WOT.

Just keep a watch out for dropping mpg or fuel smell.  Stuck injectors are known to happen, as are the occasional bad plug/coil.

I am finally getting my car back after dealing with this exact same issue. The smoke only was noticed following the install of catless downpipes and after some WOT driving. The car has been at the dealership and the shop foreman looked over the entire engine and removed turbos and can find nothing at fault for the smoke. I am thankfully walking out of the dealership with my warranty intact. As much as others will disagree, the catless downpipes are playing a role in the creation of the smoke.

Catless downpipes are exposing what the engine is really doing.  Maybe if we can get a video of an EB engine being dyno'd on the stand we'd know for sure!

BTW, did you gap the plugs (sp534?) to 0.030, kolk?

Well the dealership has been pulling my car apart for the better part of three weeks and can find nothing wrong. Smoke was present with the catless downpipes installed and over the three weeks in the shop the smoke could not be reproduced. This was with inspection and removal of stock downpipes and the passenger side turbo following WOT runs to determine if there was any blow by on the turbo and was making it to the catalytic converter. There is another factor in play here beyond just saying there is something "wrong with your engine". Whether it is backpressure related or another factor, I am leaning towards the catless downpipes being the root cause of the smoke issue.

I cant remember which ones I bought honestly, I bought the ones this board said to buy lol. But yes, I know I regapped them all to .030. I even posted on here about how far off some of my stock plugs were. Some were up to .048 IIRC.

Im tempted to go ahead and put my stock cats back on, and see what happens. Obviously before I did that, Id check the intake piping first.
