2013 Body Issues; don't cry

If you have a 2013 SHO, you might want to go take a look at your car.

I went to Ford and we looked at (3) Taurus on the lot and (5) Police Interceptors that just came in for PA State Police; all of them had the same problem.

Hood

I was told by body shop my hood was damaged; it was not from the tyre--it's from factory. The photo's below were taken a few weeks after I bought my car in may. The photos are the same, red outline is what you want to look at--this is the passenger side hood.

If your hood is like mine; you will notice the body line is off, hood is lower, and line above headlight not exactly perfect like on driver's side.

Driver Side Tail Light

We are also trying to figure this one out; my tail light is not properly flush and lined -- it's very evident by the photo I took last night of the tail light--you can see how the LED's are not smooth like passenger side. This was taken on tripod/level--no illusion, the tail light is higher than rest.

Let me know if you have same issues--Service Manager and I were completely shocked when we went to the lot and started checking cars and they all had the same issue. The hood one was weird, because at certain angles it looked right and others it was way off. Maybe just too many angles on it--not sure.

I don't see the problem in either area Storm.

Of course, i'm looking at it hung over

LOL.

It's there in photos, can't miss it.

I'm fixing to go work on tail lights, see if I can realign them.

Sent from a mobile, I think.

Have a few more drinks when observing them next time and I'm sure they'll be perfectly fine / in harmonious alignment.

We already confirmed it on other 13s.

I want some of what you and your Dealership employee's are drinking then.

Hahahahahahaha......

Storm, I noticed this too after buying car.  You can however use the hood (2 rubber bump stops) bumpers and just turn them both counter clock wise to increase the gap with the hood closed.  This will raise the hood a little and match the fender better.  Not perferct, but it works.  FYI

We did the same, only needed it on passenger side. My bump stop had to come all way out. It's still not perfect though.

Is your driver tail light flush and lined up?

You can always get a hardware store 1/8 inch high rubber grommet (or similiar) and put (glue it) it on the fixed engine valance where the stop hits.  That would raise it even more if need be.

No my tail lights look dead on lined up.  I'm sure if measured they won't be perfect, but not an eye sore by any means.

My car had the exact same fit issues, the hood I was able to make little better. And my neighbor works in the body shop at my plant adjust the trunk.

Hmm; I'm gonna try to reseat the tail light.

It has bigger gap on bottom of it compared to drivers side.

I think my trunk is right; might be light.

Just looked at mine, and they are both off like yours.  I'll be damned.

$40K+ cars and bodylines can't be lined up.  Nice.

What day of the week was your car built on?  My dad always says, "the assembly line workers are hungover on Monday, and too busy thinking about getting hungover on Friday. So the best cars are built on Wednesday."

I've noticed the same issues on my 2009 gt500 and 2011 gt500 when they were brand new. At this point in my life and prior experiences, as long as I know the car hasn't been in a wreck that has made this occur, I make any adjustments that I can to improve it and try to live with it. I know this isn't the answer myself or others want to hear, but it takes multiple adjustments to make these lines satisfactory. Then once you make these lines perfect other lines aren't, so I've just learned to live with it.  :( I've attached a couple photos of my 2013.

Geswek, I took a photo of my left tail light for you. Lol. Looks like this is an issue on more than just your 2013. Let me know what your solution is when you find one.

Sheesh; that's insane.

I'm gonna have Ford try to fix it--or I might.

Hood I can live with; tail light drives me crazy tho LOL.

My deck lid is actually slightly rubbing the bumper on the left side, so I may see what adjustment I have with the with the stops. It appears the the entire deck lid could go up a hair on the left. The right side is perfect.

I looked at the bracket that holds the trunk to the chassis today, and I believe some adjustment can be made by loosening those bolts and shifting the bracket up. On my trunk, the entire left side is down lower, even the top of the deck lid to quarter panel seam is lower.
