2014 SHO PP Cold start misfire and erratic idle

Nearing 15Kmiles I noticed a shake on startup and near the same time an erratic in park idle i've been bone stock with no tune since my accident in january. I noticed that the car lacked pickup at times and would fall on its face as if it had no boost or was in a silent limp mode with no check engine light. I also noticed the cold shake/missfire was getting worse and worse.

I changed my oil at 20K miles and the next day was the 1st day of the cold snap here in FL, I used my remote starter and it quit at some point before I left to go to work; went to start it again and it honked once to indicate a failure.. Started it when I got in the car and it had a check engine light with normal idle and no shaking as if it was a missfire. I sent a vehicle health report and it told me it was a missfire. I read the codes using my SCT tuner and found it to have P0302 and P0305. Once the engine is warm the missfire goes away and the car will act somewhat normal except for the light.

I'm assuming this is from the intake valves being caked in carbon.

Other than taking this to the dealer(Kinda stuck atm with a job that makes me work 7:30am to 5pm almost everyday so not an option right now) what is normally done to fix this?

I would check/change spark plugs, check plugs at cylinder #2 and #5 based on your codes to see if there is any excessive oil inside the wells, another note also check the rear valve cover for any visible oil around the gasket.

x2 on plugs & check for oil in plug wells.  If there is oil present, most likely culprit is valve cover gasket(s).  Hopefully nothing deeper.  Was any damage other than the trans cooler discovered while the SHO was being repaired from the raccoon hit?  Any damage to the belly pan?

I checked the coil #5 and no oil. #2 I don't wanna crawl over the engine in this cold..

No other damage than trans cooler. I do have to go back to the dealer and bodyshop. Bodyshop owes me x5 of the screws that hold the deflector under the radiator/transcooler and 2 that hold the plastic over the fender and headlight. Also pass side chrome trim is coming off(cracked clip) from their bad paint-job I'm going to have the dealer eventually work on a laundry list of things that have piled up including a PTU fluid change..

I cant seem to beable to get #2 out.  Its stuck on the plug grrr.

Edit nvm no oil

Did you try taking of the connector, then gently pull it from side to side,or twist it side to side.

Try undoing the screw and just twist it... The shape of the valve cover should lift it and break the seal on the plug.... Might consider having and extra plug boot just in case.

Either I have a spark, fuel or carbon issue.. Ill just drive my old Gen 3 Taurus until I can drop it off at the dealer after hours or something..

Ok, I had dropped my car off after hours lastnight with a laundry list of things for them to fix. My question is what are people doing to FIX this issue other than a catch can or meth/water injection system..

Edit: after watching the video, strange my dealer got pissy I was using full synthetic oil, saying it did nothing and that going over the oil mileage interval would void my warranty and did a free oil change to part synthetic.. Weird..

Nothing. That's the larger concern. Synthetic oil and "top tier" gas are what I would consider band aides to the larger issue. Cat cans will void warranty.

Got a call from the dealer today, So far two bad/stuck injectors.. I asked about a PTU fluid change(since its got 20K on her now) and service advisor said not till 30K.. Ugh, Whatever guess they'll be replacing that before 65K

They found something significant :thumb:  that's good!  That they are open to the PTU fluid change at all is even better!

Idk, I actually had to explain to the service adviser what the PTU was. So Maybe she has no clue and thought it was the same as the trans fluid :/..
I have a friend who works for another dealer a city over and maybe ill have them do the service..

Find out if the other dealer performs BG services.  Those that do will more likely do the PTU and RDU services.

I got my baby back and omg the feeling of having so much power under my foot feels good again!!! Best part is I left my dashcam in my car and they had someone work on it late at night after closing cause of how backed up the service department was xD ill post those videos later.

Glad they got you back in action, looking forward to those videos ;)  I hope these are just teething pains for Ford's DI injectors.
