2013 SHO-
Nov 2013 I went 12.86@108.00 with just a 93 tune and K&N air filter.

Last night(video posted under videos)I went 12.79@108.28 with a tune, CAI, off road pipe, plugs and thermostat. I think the tune is off a little and I did email LMS about it. Any thoughts??

Weather on both night was pretty much the same.

I've talked extensively with Dan, Anthony, and Andy at LMS regarding my '13 SHO and mods/tuning.... There is an LMS tune mod for the DPs and the CAI... do you have these in your tune?  If not that might be that you have 20-30 HP untapped.

Even with a tuning solution, is the CAI recognized as offering much of a gain over OEM with a filter?

You can't expect much, if anything at all from the plugs and t-stat. No power increase. Potentially just running optimally (avoiding KR).

Not sure what you can expect with the exhaust mods, but your time increase may not be far off, especially factoring variables like track conditions and weather.

Iheart- I'm a Fox body Mustang guy so maybe I was expecting to much. Back in the day if you put a CAI and off road pipe on a 5.0 you would gain 2-3 tenths so I guess that's what I was thinking.

IMO the 12.79 is probably where you should be with that set up. The 12.86 was a GREAT time for that setup. I would be doing cartwheels down the strip if I ran 12's with just a tune.

Regarding expecting too much…. well I tend to agree at least as far as the CAI. I would expect you to pick up 15-20WHP with earlier turbo spooling (low end HP and Torque quicker)…. based on dyno testing 3 sets of DPs on my car back to back.
I actually just got off the phone with Andy at LMS regarding the CAI and tune tweak.  He says that the 3.5 EB can get more air through the CAI with this tweak and see some performance improvement, but that it is only 5-7 WHP on their dyno in the 3.5TT EB engine as opposed to twice that much in cars with a non-torque based set of ECU algorithms and their CAI.  I've posted dyno results on my car with stock tune regarding the stock intake and filter…. As soon as I get my T-stat changed and re-gap my plugs I plan to do the same testing with the tune….. and at the same time with 2BAR vs 3BAR MAP sensors.

I haven't had time to really play with it but LMS sent me a new tune that made 10 more horsepower than the previous tune I had and the shifts points should be better on this one. We'll see how it is and I'll let you know!

I did a few test hits the other night and the car feels good with the new 93v8 tune. Heading to the track tomorrow night.

So once again no improvement:

12.84@107.68
12.80@107.70
12.91@107.06

The weather wasn't as good as last week but I thought it still would have improved with this new 93v8 tune. Seems like I wasted money on downpipes and a CAI.

Maybe try re-loading the tune after returning to stock?  Check all the clamps underhood?  How many miles on your SHO?  May be worth looking at the plugs for answers.

Hold on Brian; I'll be able to give you something to compare on the 19th -- what are you doing that weekend? You should come down to Cecil County in Maryland for Ford day and run with me.

Weather, humidity plays havoc with times.  You can't compare two different days.  Best I've been with DP's is 12.98, so I'd say your ahead of the game.  Are you letting the car cool down with ice on the intake?  My best times in any FI car(04 cobra, 99 Lightning, 09 GT500, SHO, Xsport, and the 12 GT500), has always been after a thorough cooldown and icing the intake /supercharger.  Makes a big difference.

I agree 100% on that.

I think it doesn't help that he has more mods than me and I live by him--I was able to run 12.5's at Cecil -- grant it the DA was -627 and weather was 41F; like ideal boost.

I'm sure when it's 60-80F outside I'll be back up at 12.7's. At least I was last year.

Like they say; you only need one slip to show the number haha.

Exactly.  We don't show our average run, just the hero run.

True; I do have a spreadsheet of all my runs with every thing so I can compare.

I'm hoping I can meet up with him one day; don't want him to hate his car or think it was a waste. The car is still MUCH faster than 80% of the things on road; so that's a feat in itself. :)

I want to run ATCO and see difference; never been there.

I would love to go down but I have to much going on right now to take that trip.

I emailed Anthony at LMS and I'm waiting for his reply. My car just broke 8,000 on the way down to Atco yesterday.
