Annoying double honk when exiting car petition.

Let's get as many members as possible to comment on how bad the double honk is when leaving the car running. Maybe if we get enough ford will make a way to disable it.

It does seem to get annoying sometimes, the best way is to make sure if you have people in the car to not shut off your car until everyone gets out,or if it really upsets you just disconnect the horn, lol.

I'm to the point of unplugging the horn. I don't want to leave the door slightly open, find a homeless man to car sit, or any other walk around lol. Just please.... stop it.

The only double honk  i ever get when attempting to lock with the fob is when a door is ajar... and when it happens nothing locks... it's a no look "just so you know" thing on the '13

I have these issues for quite sometime know, its all about who opens the door before you the driver,if any of the doors are opened before yours it will sound the double honk as long as the car is off, best way i found is not to shutoff the car until everyone is out.

Almost sounds opposite of mine... polarity issue?

This is what my 13 does. However, I can kill the engine and it still does it. As you know, it remains in accessory until the driver door is opened. So, as long as my wife exits and closes the door before I even open mine, (which is pretty much every time we exit the vehicle) it'll double honk.

Sorry but I just have to laugh....does this happen to you that often that you are driven to this level of distraction? You know an easy fix is to just leave a fob in the car? My wife's ExSport does this (my SHO is a '12) and yes while annoying sometimes it has also saved us from driving away from the person with the fob.

I do not want to leave the fob in the vehicle. It defeats the whole point of the system.

One example, say I go to the post office. I park up front when it's a cool -5* outside and naturally I'd like to leave the truck running while I go inside for just a few minutes. When I close the door and walk to the away I get my ears raped by two full blown honks.. couldn't just be a cute little Honda beep. Nope we need to tell the world you have arrived and obnoxiously let everyone within two blocks know you have left your vehicle running.

It's a stupid "feature" and I don't want it.

This is a funny thread. This no different if you try to lock doors with fob inside. Its a security feature.

Yes maybe it does or can draw attention to the car, but I would rather know than to find out after someone has drove off with my car.

Doesn't seem that this affects my car, (2011) but whenever I get out of car and leave it running, I use the fob to lock the doors. That would be my suggestion. If someone inside, not sure what all happens if door gets opened, but I assume nothing!

For those with this honk feature, if you leave car running, exit vehicle its going to honk at you if you have the fob on you. Anyone inside opens doors after you've locked it, you will have 10sec to bring fob back and press ok before alarm sounds

No its the opposite of trying to lock the doors with the fob inside. Its like telling you that your car is running and you forgot to leave the fob inside so that when they steal your car they can have the fob too. It is just annoying and I cant think of a single situation where someone would want this. If i get out of my car and leave it running I know d*** well i left it running and I don't need my neighbors to know that at 6 AM.

Lol!
It is all pretty silly, really.
Back when the car was new, I thought my wife was slamming the door too hard and that was causing the double honk. Haha!

Can't think of a SINGLE situation? Here is when it has saved us. My wife and I will go into town together taking her ExSport (2014) her FOB is in her purse. I will be driving, and will drop her off at a store, and then go to Home Depot or whatever. If she forgets to give me the fob (its in her purse) and I don't have mine (I leave mine in my SHO)- it double honks, saving me from getting to my destination, turning the ExSport off and realizing...**** no key!!!! So there you go - THAT is why I like the feature.... :)

Would you be opposed to having a way to turn it off for the roughly half of us who hate it? I know where my key is at all times, in my pocket and if someone needs to drop me off I know I need to give it to them.

Also does your fob work on your SHO and the X-Sport? If you can do that its kinda cool.

How about just getting they fob from your wife. Or putting the second fob for the xsport in your pocket on the way out the door. But I do see your point.
