Anybody Tried to Trade-in Lately?

Doing a little exploring...

Shopping the market a little, for something a little smaller and more efficient. My work commute will be doubling soon and the added efficiency of an NA 4 cyl. is alluring.
What's more, shedding the SHO will get me closer to the 65-67 Buick GS400 I so desire. :D

That aside, I was expecting the worst on trade. I got a good chuckle out of KBB and NADA, suggesting I could nab 27K on trade for my loaded PP 13 model SHO, at 20K miles. That is certainly lofty. But even 26K would be upside enough to ease the heartburn of a trade in. I went in expecting perhaps 23 or 24.

Anybody have theirs appraised for a trade lately? What's it looking like out there?
 
Longer commute,  why spend it in a slow eco box with way less features?

I traded in a Magnum R/T for a new 2011 Kia Optima 2.4 because I wanted MPG and something new.  Sucked after  a month and I missed being in a quick car.

You should be able to get $26K easily I would think. 

What are car are you looking at?

 
What's your work commute like, IHG?  Like PM said, you might not like going to an "econobox" after the SHO :)  I hear the Toyota Yaris starts at 15K!  Sorry, no Hyundais for 5K ...
 
There was a 13 SHO that someone posted here selling on ebay at some dealer,it was black and fully loaded,they wanted 29.500 and this was a few weeks ago,wonder if it sold and how much for,like mentioned before try getting those issues rectified like the steering wheel and the recalls updated and hopfully you can get more than you bargain for,best of luck to you.Z
 
To each their own.  It is very important to find the car to fit you and your needs.

I used to drive a 08 Civic Hybrid.  I had close to 100k on that car when I sold it, and getting just under 40 mpg average on cheap low grade gas, my daily commute in DC traffic was not overly costly (bought too late to get HOV plates).  Being 5'10 with a skinny frame I outgrew that car quick.  Traveling out West to hit the wineries or visit family means traversing mountains, I had to floor the civic (yes, again it was a hybrid) just to make any slight inclines.  The three factors that caused me to sell in order were: too small, warranty for the battery was almost up, lack of power.

My SHO is my dd now, and while I wish I wasnt putting the miles on it, the drive is less impactful to my body.  I'm only 31, but after spending 6 years in a Civic my eyes have been opened to a whole new level of space!  I even looked at the baby-Caddy (ATS) and it reminded me of the Civic.  Almost bought a used CTS-V but was too afraid of it in the winter... smart move on my part, our winter was bad this year.

If you cant afford a Tesla, then I think you're stuck with a trade off.  Mazda's sky drive equipped vehicles does have some promise, but as a daily driver I wouldn't want that much tactile feedback from the drive train.

I wasn't going to bore you guys with specifics. But I am a Mazda guy through and through. I bought my wife a CX-5 a few years ago, which has been a wonderful vehicle. It's slow, yes. Heh
I was looking at a new Mazda 3s GT. Now, THAT'S alot of car for the money. Manual trans too, which I so sorely miss. It's got 184hp or so. That's not bad for a 2800ish pound vehicle. Certainly livable.

I don't actually DD my SHO. But at the moment I own 5 vehicles, and I must get rid of one or two of them, one being my current beater. I actually DD a 2002 Dodge Neon. My first car. XD

It'll be difficult for me, moving forward, to have a big fancy SHO in my garage, when I am trying to convince my wife to let me buy a $20K classic car. Those are my thoughts on that matter. Lol
 
If you like the Mazda 3, go checkout a 14 Focus ST, better gas mileage than the SHO and they are a blast to drive. That and Ford has some really good incentives running right now especially on left over 14 stock

I did consider that too. And that's not out of the question. But, I'm really not a Ford guy. Honestly, not certain how I ended up in one. That power is just intoxicating though and makes for an easy sell.
Driving a FoST is on my list. But, I'm also eager to step away from performance or sports cars, which generally high a higher cost of ownership and require more maintenance.

I'm really trying to free up some budget here. I'm losing interest in modern enthusiast autos, and really have become interested in classics. My 72.C-10s SBB 350 is getting tired and needs a rebuild. It's difficult to factor that into a budget approved by High Command (as FoMoCo would say), with the SHO in the garage.

We shall find out soon enough. Going to have the SHO appraised at the Mazda dealer Friday. The books say 25 to 27 on trade. I'm skeptical. But we shall see!

For the record, it's a 2013 model, PP with 402A, nav and multi contour seats. And wheel locks, if that is an option. Tuxedo Black. 19.5K miles. Very good condition. Will need a new set of tires before too long though.

It'll be a tough sell for them, should they come back with anything less than 25K trade. Hell, I'll have heartburn for anything less than 26. Should be interesting. XD
 
If my SHO gives me any more big trouble. I'm going to trade into a Focus ST with the ST3 package. It sure would be nice to drive a manual too.

If I can find one (FoST) locally, or decently local, I'm going to go check one out. I'm definitely not against getting into one of those. If pricing can work out for a similarly equipped FoST to the 3, it's also a real contender.

I'm with you. I can't handle an auto trans anymore. And finding a 3 with the larger engine in GT trim with the manual trans is proving difficult, due to limited inventory. That reason alone makes the FoST a much easier process.
 
damn i tried to help ya and look for ms3's looks like none to be found around here, but i did find at least 10-15 fully loaded FoSTs so that should be pretty easy to get a test drive in
 
These are the auction prices at Manheim, which is the true wholesale price.  You shouldn't take anything lower than this:

I bet they offer you $24K but will go up to $25 or $25.5.
 
That's about what I'm anticipating. I could live with 25K, but won't be leaving with a smile. I really appreciate you posting that, BTW.

I'll be a little more satisfied the closer I get them to 26.

Hell, I may keep the car. Already having trouble finding what I want.

TX, I'm going up to the Ford house and Mazda dealer in Denton this afternoon, if weather permits. They're side by side there on 35 and I see the Ford house has a nicely equipped FoST.

The Mazda dealer doesn't have what I'm hunting, but they're easier to work with than Hiley in Hurst. Plus, if they'll deal on a new 6, it's not out of the question either.
 
I know quite a few guys with the Focus St and that platform has a ton of support, including Cobb, LMS, Unleashed, Ford Racing etc. I would be interested in one simply because of the amount of mods I could do to it to make it stand out, including body mods. Hell you can even get them with Recaros
