Bone head move @ track

Today, admittedly was my first time at the track as a driver.

First pass, Me vs Subaru WRX. [TC off.] Red light at start!

Second pass, Me vs the fastest car for the day and his slowest run, a blown '71 240Z [TC on]

Third pass, Me vs GT-R [TC off,] but car didn't shift and hit rev limiter

I had enough. Was just tired but a run an hour down the 1/4 mile. On way home, transmission got goofy on me. Popped outta gear, wouldn't go into gear. Wouldn't shift. Engine off, engine on, seemed to clear it up, but it repeated badly.

Checked car with tuner, realized I was running stage 4 and NOT 4+! I wondered why my times were so far off from I was seeing from my OBD2 connector. But transmission error P0096. Aww hell! Car really sick now. So I dropped ole girl at the dealer to check!

Will go back with the right tune loaded, and hopefully a better performing transmission. I guess I should pick up at least .2 seconds with the 4+ tune loaded. But anyone in So Cal that frequents Irwindale, consider the FOntana track. Run the whole 1/4. Some VERY stiff competition.

Lol, don't beat yourself over it. First time out this year was my second time out. They said be ready in 10, but started in 5 and I did not have my **** together. Fighting with my glasses and helmet and trying to get new logging software running...RT was 1.31, lol. That G-37 driver sure was pissed when I still passed and beat him.

The racing was fine. Was fun. Good conversation. More concerned about my car and what its going to take to fix it! Should be warranty, but maybe 2 weeks.

We all have our track stories.  Next time you will be more prepared etc.  But, surprised the 4 LMS tune did not run much better than stock.  Get that tranny looked at.  Cheers.

So am I. Was disappointing. But wonder ifvtransmission was causing more issues than I thought? This was my time last week using ELM 327 and iphone.

in to see what's wrong with the trans.  I wouldn't expect a huge improvement in times between stage 4 or 4+.  I'd say less than a .10th.  I've switched between 2 and 4+ and wasn't much if any difference.

Checked car today. Diagnosis is first gear is blown. Which is where code referred to. So dealer says tranny has to be torn down. Then because of Ford warranty, basically examine ALL internals before approval given to fully replace transmission or just rebuild. Then due to work load being stacked in trans area, car MAY be down up to 3 weeks. At best 1 1/2 weeks.

The outstanding TSB's that were never performed on car are out of warranty. So Ford will NOT cover. Looking for way to circumvent this. They never show car involved in any TSB campaign. Rather, I had to bring TSB to them and their attention.

1. Will be looking for new dealer for repairs
2. Has anyone been outside of bumper to bumper warranty had any repairs covered under warranty? TSB's?
3. Why doesnt Ford VIN numbers automatically trigger outstanding recalls or TSB's at dealer for service?
4.

Sorry to here about this significant problem  :-  ... I hope it all works aout well.... Please keep us informed as to events, progress, and outcome.  TRIA

UPDATE:
My car been at dealer since 5/10. I get an update call today, FORD approved to overhaul transmission as opposed to replacing transmission. The rookie service writer didnt have all the details, but several clutches were burnt along with 1st and 3rd gears. And also a few blown seals throughout.

So still, like I said I will be lucky if I get it back by Saturday 5/24.

They are fixing it under warranty?

Covered under powertrain warranty to 60k miles. In which I have 55k. They did try to NOT cover it saying fluid was low. They never elaborated. And since I had only 5,000 miles on car since I bought it, there argument didnt hold water.

Yay!  Way to go!  Assuming you flashed back to stock first?

I did indeed flash car back to stock and removed the 3 bar sensor.

12 days later, I picked up car today. Seems ok on drive home. Service tech, writer, and director not very well versed on the SHO. I engaged them in a few questions and they admitted, not many SHO's around. So they rarely get to see them. Reaffirming I will NOT return there.

TSB issue was apparent culprit. So will read more on it

They made no mention of it. I told them I bought a meter from parts store to read codes, then reset it. So not sure if they dug into history or just all codes were showing again? Im inclined to believe the latter.
