Brake pads and drag racing.

So like many my SHO is a DD,  but i intend on drag racing with friends 3-4 times a year,  15-20 passess per night. (80 at max). 

I know from my high speed datalogging the brakes are useless after stopping ''moderately" firmly from 110.  I know enough to get in trouble,  and that EBC seems to be the rotor and pad of choice.  But i do not know if i need stage-1,  stage-2 or better.

given my usage .. what is the great internetz recommendations ?

FYI my plan is to do all four sets at once and have a performance shop do the work.

You'll want at minimum their Red-Stuff Pads. But Yellow Stuff is one stop higher when it comes to "aggressiveness".

there is only a 120$ difference between the YellowStuff and RedStuff.  I think im going yellow on that principal alone.

*but* how dirty are these things going to get?  Their dust rating is super low..

I ran the EBC Yellow Stuff prior to taking the giant leap into the Wilwood's.

I didn't experience much dust from what I recall and the yellow's served me well. You'll enjoy them.

What year is your car.  I just had new tires put on this morning.  I had them look at my brakes cause after racing a full season last year, I figured they were toast.  I was surprised when they told me I have over half of pads left.  I have well over 200 passes on the car.  Guess the OEM PP pads hold up pretty good.

Any issues with noise on the EBC's?  I know on m last car I upgraded to a harder pad for performance and they howled bigtime, ended up pulling them off as it was not livable for a daily driver..

No, not really.

Keep in mind, with both EBC, & most other upgraded, aftermarket pads, the warmer they get, the better they bite.

No, not really.

yeah I did not have EBC's it was another brand but a harder performance compound and the noise was unbearable until they got warm.  I will put the EBC's on my list for sure, thanks!

Porterfield pads are oft quoted for autox/racing, as are Carbotech.  I found Hawk HPS to be unsuitable for use with Baer rotors, but others like them a lot.  I like PFC products, but others dislike them, LOL.

FWIW, I have the EBC dimpled/slotted GD Sport rotors and YellowStuff pads on my Explorer. Other than the helicopter noises from the rotor slots (which is only audible with the windows down), the brakes are pretty quiet, especially with daily driving. If I'm braking really aggressively, I can get the brakes to resonate which can cause some cabin drone, but it doesn't bother me, since it only happens under very heavy braking.

As bpd indicated, I have noticed that the bite is very consistent and actually improves as they heat up.

They do dust a bit (more so on the front, which is typical), but so far, the touchless car was is enough to remove most of the dust.

I'm happy with them, and I'd make the same choice again.
