Broken plastic ring = leak?

Maybe I'm over paranoid but I swear I've been hearing more turbo related noise lately so I scoped the pipes looking for anything obvious and came across this on the front turbo. Thoughts on if this ring can lead to a leak?

Thanks gents - Still have factory powertrain warrant + ext. warranty so I'll let the dealership play with this one. Not to mention, looks like my PTU vent is leaking again.

49k miles and I haven't had any luck finding someone local to change it. I would attempt it if i had the space/time.

A) Lincoln-only dealer, and B) BG shop most likely options.  Dealer, you may have to talk directly to the trans tech for results.

These guys might be who you need:

Honest 1 Auto Care - Marietta
Distance: 9 miles

1391 East Cobb Drive
Marietta GA USA 30068
Telephone: (770) 635-2487

Just tell them to do a 3x drain/fill of the PTU with short "exercises" in between (any gear but P and N), if there's no drain plug available.  Show them a copy of the HOWTO if you need to.

Thanks buddy. I've already had the vent/vent tube replaced once - would be nice to know why it keeps puking. I've monitored PTU temps which seem to hover around 190 degrees after having a little fun.

Certainly doesnt seem hot enough to cause an issue.  You sure theres no trans fluid leaking in there?  Thats the other reason for the vent leak.  Thst would mean a seal or seals need to be replaced.

Anything is possible and would explain why it keeps happening.
