Chrome on taillights peeling again already!

mine was starting to flake and I just plastidipped it along with the rest is the chrome stuff on the back today.

I figure I'll have them replace them again and when the next set starts to peel I will just buy the SE one but make the dealership replace them again and sell the new chrome ones right away to help offset the cost of the SE ones.

donk:
remember once 3yr/36k bump to bump warranty is gone dealer will not cover them even w/ extended warranty.

Because it seems it's inevitable in any case donk... heed mval's admonition...  But remember 2 words:  pressure washer

I just had my new SEL tails blacked out by my paint shop. I think now I'll have them do the trim on my SHO tails and sell them to recoup some of the money I spent on the SEL's

tom:
you're right on pressure wash but have taken it a step further. no longer wax them even w/spray wax just wipe off with clean rag. mine have now lasted almost a year without any flaking.

Since these were just replaced in September last year I am hoping they will cover them again even though I am out of my 3/36.  They have to have some type of parts warranty on them.  If they ask about pressure washing my response will be that they are the only ones to ever pressure wash my car.  They washed it one time 3 days after a complete detail.  I was so pissed and made sure to complain about it.

Yea... I'm with you on the washing...I always make the point and have it noted on the service order NOT to wash... no matter how dirty it is... I spent $900 fixing dealer finish care already!

I believe Ford officially has advised against pressure washing that peei prone chrome on the tails... hint hint.

Mine started to peel, the dealer took pics and sent claim to FORD.  I asked him, if it goes thru, just to order a set of no chrome taillights.  He was cool about it and just said he would have to work with the part numbers to make it work.  Just have to wait on FORD now.
