Datalogging and tune revisions

I know nothing about e85, e15, e34 and all of those things...

Don't increase the E content on a tune that wasn't meant for it, that can be bad....You can get away with running more pump gas for a Ethanol tune though

More E taxes the fuel system...So if you are maxxed out on E20 then running E30 can be bad as you would be beyond "maxxed" out.

Hopefully he sent you a revision a little "safer" than the maxed out one.  AJP could have ran mine harder but we both agree'd to back it off and keep it nice n' safe with the stupid 91 octane fuel and high elevation choking the turbo's.  Also, I'm not a picky eater either.  My employment has me fueling up at random places and I use the car often for road trips.

Guess that ends my datalogging and revisions?  He told me to monitor fuel pressure and AFR to be sure, but Im not really sure what to do with that or what it means so I decided Ill just go back to the non datalogged 3 bar tune when it gets cooler out I suppose.

That's kind of leaving you hanging isn't it?...Aren't you paying because you aren't really the expert?

You want to post the log that he said you were maxxed out on and maybe we can steer you...I would say if fuel pressure gets below 1000 psi at any point that can be bad. If it gets below 1200-1400 that is borerline...If you are above 1500 psi then I wouldn't worry so much.

Your fuel pressure problems will be at the upshifts and especially the 2-3 Upshift.

I think a tuner has some obligation to protect people from themselves unless there is a clear understanding of the risks....But the risks have to be identified and perhaps that's part of the problem

Thanks man.  I posted the log around post #12 on the first page I think.  Yea I guess I feel like he gives a good price on his tune, does revisions even 2 years later after I bought it and responds fast to email so he probably doesnt have alot of time for explaining things.  It would be nice, but Im not upset with him for it.  I figured I just would try to research it a little so I dont pester him too much.  Maybe thats my fault for not asking him more.  Anyhow, I appreciate everyone on here answering questions and I hope I can learn enough at some point to contribute more to the forum.

Thanks for taking a look at the log and giving your thoughts.  Im still gonna refill my tank with top tier next time its empty.

Yea Im with you.  I dont like to have to think about it too much.  I like to upgrade my car and forget about it and drive.  Torrie originally gave me a good safe 3 bar tune without revision originally but I suppose after the first revision it was more aggressive than he figured after seeing the logs..

Yea, I was Torrie tuned, never got a tune I could set and forget, everything he sent me required me to monitor it.  In your logs your fuel pressure dropped  I think at most to 9.5MP which is around 1350psi which is not terrible, but then again, your CAC temps are warm, I suspect when the weather gets colder you will have fuel pressure dropping a bit more which is not so great. Although in the log you posted the knock sensor was pulling timing pretty much from 3rd gear on and then the throttle closed up for some reason at the shift into 4th which would concern me. Torrie doesn't let the throttle close unless the car is protecting itself.

I personally do not like having a tune that I am going to have to monitor all the time, takes the fun out of driving. If I have to monitor my car every time I drive it, then the tune is no good IMHO. I am running a tune from AJPTurbo that I don't have to monitor... I also have a tune from LMS that I don't have to monitor... makes driving more fun...

Sometimes a safe tune is much better than an all out ass whooping race tune all the time. Nothing wrong with have a fun safe tune for the street and an ET crunching tune for the track...

I suspect that he saw your logs and got concerned about fuel quality issues.  I suggest running a couple tanks of top tier (Shell, Mobil, BP, Exxon, etc) and then send him another log to look at.  Let him know you've tried different fuel and see what he thinks.

Thanks everyone for your ideas and checking my datalog.  I will run better gas, send another log, and see what can be tweaked.  Maybe I can post a new datalog here as well and see what you guys think in the near future.
