Different SW Part ID/Strategy code

Finally taking the SHO in for the front-end vibration I've been having so I flashed it back to stock. I recall reading on here to take note of the SW Part ID and the Strategy code before taking it in for service then comparing when you get it back to make sure they're still the same. I compared the codes after flashing back to stock and they are different than the codes I had when I initially tuned the car and sent the codes to LMS. Is that normal?

And could someone clarify for me why they must be the same before you take it in for service and when you get it back? I just don't know that much about this tuning stuff. Thanks

If there is an update for your car and they do it while they have it then when you try and upload your tune it most likely won't work....

I would advise everyone to get a dealer update then notify your tuner and have them transfer your current tune data to the new strategy.its a fairly simply process and you will have the performance of your tuned car along with the new improvements that came from R&D from the ford engineers

Any idea why the codes are different now before taking it in for service?

Im not sure what you mean......when they have your car for service that is when they they have a free opportunity to update the calibration with the latest updates that ford either feels are nessasary or required....a tune update from ford is a new strategy

So the initial codes that I sent to LMS are now different when I flashed back to stock. Is that normal/does it matter?

Yes it matters...thats what im saying...ford gave you a different tune...sounds like you got updates....your lms tune will be based on the old strategy

I'm sorry if I'm not explaining this right. The initial code sent to LMS prior to receiving my tunes are the first picture. Today I flashed back to stock to so that I can drop off my car tomorrow for service and got the code in the second picture

So your codes changed without a trip to the dealer?...i think if im correct maybe lms sent you an updated strategy than what your original strategy was

I can look them up in a bit and let you know what the differences are

Correct. They changed without taking it to the dealer. I was thrown off by this. So say they don't change after getting my car back for the dealer, am I ok to reinstall the tune?

If you could let me know the differences, I'd appreciate it. The SW Part ID is different too

So here is what's going on I think....When you got your tune from LMS they looked up the latest tune version for your strategy from Ford. Which was actually 2 revisions from the original strategy from what you had or what came on the car. So you were in need of an update from ford.....SO you basically got it from LMS plus what they do in their tunes....Some of Ford's updates may get changed depending what LMS does in the tunes.

SOmetimes it doesn't matter what updates ford comes up with because depending on what you want in your specific performance tune some scalars need to be changed to whatever they need to be to get the results you want.

example in your ford update they changed some of your trans settings to get the shifting that they wanted....Lms may change some of those to get the car to shift how they want based on the power and preference you have

Here is a text file of the differences between your original strategy(GWF6) and the udated one (GWF8)

A lot of it wont make sense but unless you tune or have software it really isn't supposed to....It's actually a lot of changes...These are only the changes between the base strategies that would be given from ford...Obviously none of the changes from LMS would be seen

I believe ajp is correct.... And the stock tunes LMS uses are right from Ford. Be sure the strategy code is the same as before you tuned it, the one you sent to LMS when you bought the tune... If so, all is well. Call them if you are anxious about it.
