E85 or 100 octane

So 4.5 gallons of E85 to fill the tank of 93 Oct would be the mix that is safe to run.  What does that bump the octane to and is it effective?
Use this calculator. http://intercepteft.com/calc.html

Any bump in octane is effective. Since e85 is 105 octane It will increase anything below 105 it is mixed with.

Thanks.  So the key is to keep it at 25% or lower on a blend?

You can go over 25% a little. You just have to see where your fuel rail pressure holds at. Once it drops to low its negating any performance benefits. I just sent torrie a data log last night and i am right at 25-26% and he says i can go a little further.

Besides the octane the ethanol cools off the intake air massively in the cylinders, it wicks away all the heat and detonation possibilities. E50 is where you have full ethanol knock resistance but the stock fuel system won't get you there.

If only ford would make the eco's flex fuel systems. It would open up a big power window. At little to no upgrade costs.

It would be cool if it was possible to program the ecu for an ethanol sensor and the nessasary maps to go with e85 mixing.  I know PROEFI makes a ecm that works just like a flex fuel vehicle.

So far the biggest limitation right now is just fuel supply correct? E85 can be tuned for but we would still have to switch tunes for different mixes still.

I actually begged Jason at ProEFI (he's in town here with me to help me make a plug and play harness and use the MS48 as a piggyback to control the aux fuel system. They have been working on a 335i for quite awhile with no success yet. They'll finish the 335i way before they'll finish the Ecoboost, lots more people there modding.

The 335i is going to be a complex project for sure. Wish they would of started with the 3.5 first. Either way at least someone is doing the R&D for this.

I've noticed a increase in fuel economy for some reason at e25.  Not sure if the computer is just miss calculating but it's a bump of almost 4 mpg. My A/F ratio is also in the 11-13 instead of 14's at low throttle town driving.

I am getting jealous of you guys being able to run a mix of E85. I wish I would of waited and found a 13 Flex now.

An E85 station opened recently even closer to the house. Just a few miles down the street. I can regularly blend E85 now, as opposed to just occasionally, before this filling station opened.
Been running between 20-25 percent, blended with 93.
Excellent peace of mind during summer months, in addition to a noticeable, linear improvement in power delivery.

Can you put a log up?

My afrs have not changed except at wit.

Anyone know if the gasoline in e85 settles or rises? Doing some fuel tests on my stash and it's all over the place. If i don't agitate the fuel and let it sit over night I will get 90% on two containers then on 2 others I will get 75% one time then 85% the next... :/

If you have a stash it better be sealed tight, not exposed to water vapor.
Yeah the shelf life is quite subject to change. I have it in separate sealed containers in a cool dry place so I should be ok.

Would mixing in a fuel system drier like one of BG's products help preserver the integrity of the stash?
