I have a box of mods waiting to go on the car and I found myself with some extra time yesterday, so I had to throw in the CAI:

Also picked up the temp plates for my vanity plate:

Get a pre-filter for the filter, it will keep the filter much cleaner and eliminated the need to clean it as often.  Or since it looks like you have the dry filter, it will make it last much longer, it will keep all the bigger pieces of stuff from getting trapped in the filter, well worth the money.

Nice plate and x2 on the prefilter.  It actually makes it look cooler too - they have a few color choices.  The prefilter will also catch any minor water that may enter after a carwash.  I am running the K&N CAI now with a prefilter, but if I recall, when I had the Airaid, I got the prefilter from autoanything.com.  At the time, they were hard to find - maybe easier now???

For those using the Airaid, do these box units produce a lot of noise? I had a similar CAI on my Suburban years back, and it made a loud growl when I planted my foot into it. SInce I prefer silence, I do not want the noise. Would I be better off with the K&N filter CAI?

Also, someone please post a link to the pre filter!

No they don't, if tuned the most you'd hear in summer with window down is tiny bit of turbo spool up. And blow offs went letting off from hard acceleration. With windows up you won't hear any of this.

Airaid very little noise. K&N Typhoon CAI lots of sucking air and BOV noise with windows up or down. Drop in K&N filter, no noise. I have had all three in My MKS.

X2 X3 X4 TRUE.

Just FYI if you want REALLY loud bov noise, leave the entire car stock and do a VTA setup, my flex was that way when I traded it in, it was SUPER LOUD pssshhhhh :D

Anybody with a k&n typhoon will tell you that you absolutely can hear sucking air and the blow off valve with the windows closed and even with the radio on low.  Airaid, no.
