Future exhaust plans

Later this summer I'm planning to do further upgrades to my SHO.  Looking at the downpipes and Corsa Exhaust from Livernois.  I currently have the 160 Tstat, 3 bar map, MDesign CAI, running a 93 octane tune from LM, which I'm real curious as to what the horsepower is now with that setup.  But after the exhaust upgrade what would I be pushing then?  I haven't heard the Corsa exhaust system, I'm hoping its not raspy but rather a throaty sound at idle and livens up when ya get on it.

Sometime next year I think I'll even go to the Meth kit.  Then at that point I think I'll stop.  All I can say its fun as hell to drive now.
Any thoughts on this upgrade path? Any concerns to engine longevity?  I don't take the car to the drag strip, its a daily driver and I occasionally like mash the peddle to the floor.

Mike check out the exhaust sound thread, a few of us have good clips to give you an idea of what it sounds like. There is a break in period, at least for me there was. First couple weeks it sounded kind of ricey, now it sounds great. I believe LMS has dyno graph pics showing the gains

Thanks for that handy thread... I think I like the Corsa the most with Magnaflow coming in 2nd on the list.

Mike,

It sounds very close to the upgrade path that I am taking. I currently have the K&N intake + 160 t-stat + 3 bar + Livernois 3 bar 93 v8 Tune + plugs. I am going to be getting the downpipes, and Corsa exhaust as well in the next few weeks.

If you are new to the thread, you will find people are re-gapping their plugs to .030. My plugs in the 2014 were at .032, so they are close. The best performance, however, with the increased boost pressures and are .030.

I am doing some experimenting with the different intake systems. There is a lot of concern around K&N with the metal intake tube + heat soak. I have concerns with the mDesign intake system and water intake during rain storms. The guys at mDesign reassure that there is no water problems with the mDesign intake system (so that will be another experiment when I have time).

I am doing a dyno run this Friday to show the differences between a stock 2014 SHO and my current mods. I'll let you know what kind of horsepower gains I experience. I will also be doing a dyno run for the exhaust and down pipes as well as the mDesign vs K&N vs Stock.

Mike,

After you get the Tunes -- there will be occasional acceleration; you will be doing it all the time lol

I'm getting close to getting the down pipes in the next few weeks.  From what I've read and from what I've seen, it's the best bang for the money.  The factory down pipes look port tight when I was under the car last week

Be prepared to spray on a lot of PB Blaster on those exhaust bolts, and arm wrestle with them even afterwards.

Brenton-did you end up making it to the dyno? And did you get your Corsa yet? I might finally pull the trigger.....

Sorry I missed this. My exhaust and downpipes are going to be installed Friday! I'm super stoked.

I will be doing another run on the dyno to see the gains. I have a video of the dyno run with the tune from Livernois. I'm hoping i can get this up soon too. I just got done with my heatsoak video last night. These things take me 8+ hours to research and do a good video.

Also the down pipes will be a BEAAAATCH to take off. My shop is charging me 150.00ish to remove the exhaust and install the new one. Its well worth it for me.

One MAJOR thing to note here guys -- the Stainless Steel works downpipes have problems in the 2013+ vehicles. The bunghole for the O2 sensor is in the wrong location. You have to relocate the bunghole. The factory location bumps into an oil cooler, and will not work properly. You will need to cap the existing hole and tap a new hole in a different location.

If you bought pipes from last group buy, check threads and nozzles for O2 sensors. I had mine installed and the nozzles had to be grinded down for sensors to fit. You want them to screw up the threads cuz then sensors could be.....?????

WOW that's a shame....I have the stainless catless downpipes and I had to relocate the bung also....I can't believe they didn't address this by now. I had mine last year and told them about it, I guess they shrugged it off

I agree. My installer called Stainless direct and they still have stock of these old pipes. Its crazy that they didn't revise these for the 2013+. SMH

Doesn't everyone know to buy DPs from PPE?

No. When you google PPE down pipes, you get crap for results. The PPE site doesn't even have the Taurus SHO listed as an available option.

I got frustrated googling (it takes me 45 seconds on the internet to find pretty much anything... if it takes longer they lose my business.), so I just went with Stainless Steel Works.
