GIGANTOREs Police Interceptor SHO Meth Sleeper

I just saw a real police interceptor pull someone over today.  I'd never seen one in black before, only the white ones.  Holy crap it looked good in black.

They look even better with a lower stance. The guy that I took it to for an alignment thought it was a PI car with a body kit.

Dropped the car off at Ford on Tuesday to do the driveshaft seal (passengers side) leak. Just got a call today saying that it would be fixed under warranty. The guy said he would have it fixed under warranty THIS TIME. And he said that this was caused by having catless down pipes. Which is impossible since the leak was there before the down pipes. He said the heat cooked the seal. I’m calling bullshit. For safe measure, I’ll wrap that one pipe with some lava wrap. I found it interesting that he was acting like he’s the one that makes the decision at Ford. I had to bite my tongue on the phone. If he repeats any of his nonsense when I go to pick up the car, I’ll likely chew him a new ass.

I would not take it personal IMO!
The main issue its being covered under warranty!  Z  :)

It was the service advisor I was talking to. Just annoying to have someone talking out of their ass and being arrogant. I’m pretty easy to get along with.

Yeah people like that kill me lol...In fact I try and not talk to those people at all costs....I usually go out of my way to tell them that I prefer to talk to mechanics because we can understand eachother better and someone that doesn't turn wrenches usually speaks in a language that is meant for people that don't turn wrenches.

I understand being dedicated to your job and doing well by the people you work for but more often than not the people that act like that forget that it's not their money and when they take it upon themselves to play corporate bean counter all they are doing is stealing work from the mechanics

I have had my fair share of arguments in the past, but learned to digress and move on! especially taking advice from ignorant service advisors with hands as soft as a baby's bottom! LOL.  Z

Yup. I was a tech for a while. A lot of times service guys would lose sight of the fact that they were killing business. They let their ego drive them to make business decisions that they don’t get paid for. And certainly aren’t qualified to make.

A few years back my wife hit something laying on the road with her '12 Traverse.  Long story short it developed an exhaust leak and had a weird vibration which turned out to be a motor mount.  I thought it was the exhaust system pushed into something that was causing the vibration.  So I told the service guy at the Chevy stealership in the town I was working in at the time to get me a quote to fix the flex joint on one bank of the motor.  $1,200+.  $800 some for the entire exhaust assembly plus labor.  I looked at the guy and asked him why he couldn't just weld in a new flex joint instead of replacing the entire exhaust system.  He scoffed at me and rolled his eyes like that was the stupidest thing he had ever heard.  Tried to imply that it would never fly in this day and age with newer hi-tech vehicles.  Now I don't expect the dealership to do something like this for me but instead of trying to bullshit me he could have just told me yes I could do that but they don't do that type of work and possibly even recommended a place to take it.  How gullible do they think people are?  All he did is lose a customer for life.  First and last time I darkened their doorway.  I'll never take anything there for any reason.

thats funny, when my flex coupler was freyed on my SHO the service advisor said I should just take it to an exhaust shop and have them weld one in for me lol

Okay, so the next mini project is in the planning stages. And I might get some negative feedback for this one. As many of you know, the BC coilovers have full caster and camber adjustment on the top. Unfortunately, you can’t get to the top of the mount to make adjustments. Because there’s no access from the top side, under the hood. Just a small hole that allows you to see the top adjustment nut on the strut (but the angle won’t let you get a wrench or socket on it). So, I’ve decided to go full-retard. I’m going to take a hole saw to the top of the mount. Planning on using a 3” hole saw to open up that area. This will allow me to make fine tune adjustments. I should be able to clean it up so that it doesn’t look like anything was done. And since this hole will be within the 4 upper mounting bolts, it shouldn’t present any structural issues.

So after a few days of being told I would get a call back, attitude, giving me crap about the catless downpipes, 3 times with no returned calls (as promised), I decided to drop in. It took them 3 days just to replace the clips in the lower splash guard. I called this morning to get an update (10:30am). I just wanted them to replace the clips. “Oh, yeah I’ve been busy with people in front of me all morning. I’ll call you right back.” So imagine my surprise when I show up at the dealership in my Uber 3hrs later. To find this dude kicking back, talking football, like he doesn’t have someone waiting for his returned call. He didn’t recognize me at first. I mention the SHO and he suddenly gets motivated. He leaves me standing there while he goes to Check on my car. “We do have those clips now. Your car will be ready sometime this afterfternoon.” Which is when I kinda lost my ****. Told him to bring out the car and his service manager. Gave his manager detailed play by play, with the service advisor standing there. I was given a loaner so that they could take a look at the rusted crash bar. They gave me a 16 Edge sport.

Had a some time today to prep for the next little project.
Started with the old school gasket making method of hammering cardboard over the strut bolts. Then I used the cardboard as a template and transferred it to wood. Now I can simply drop the strut, bolt the template down to the top of the mount, and cut a nice 3” hole. Should give me all the access I need to the top strut.

Today was a good day. Drove to my buddies place to try to find the source of the popping noise coming from the drivers side coilover (or so I thought). After having 2 different shops I deal with, try to find the source of the noise, my buddy finds it in 10min. As it turns out, the subframe bolt near the drivers side coilover was just loose enough to cause the bolt to shift back and fourth. Managed to get a 1/4 turn on the bolt and the noise is gone! Huge win for the day! I also managed to get some longer adjusters for the rear shocks. So now all I have to do is drop the rear seats to adjust firmness. The adjusters that came with the set were only a couple inches long. These are about 10” long. Just long enough to poke out through the trim.

Next thing in the list is to wrap the down pipes..

Haven’t posted much lately. Was rear ended by a Tesla suv a little over 2 weeks ago. Hoping to get the car back any day now.
