Has anyone had the Cold Start Rattle TSB done on their SHO?

I saw that there was a TSB out for the F150, not sure if it covers the SHO or not. I browsed the thread, but I  admit I didn't read it fully. My question is does anyone have this issue with their SHO, and if so, have they had it covered under the TSB? I assume the warranty will cover the TSB. Sorry, I've never had to have a TSB performed on one of my cars, as I usually just fix them myself, but this seems like a pretty big job.

Some have had it fixed under warranty, but not as a part of any TSB (officially).  A TSB does not mean it is automatically warrantied, it is merely a service bulletin to advise the shops of available fixes.  Typically only covered under new car coverage as far as warranty goes.  There ARE some TSBs that extend warranty coverage, such as on the APIM, but they are rare/far between.

Thank you for the answer. I'm not sure mine even does it. The engine seems to tick a little when it's first started, but sounds pretty normal to me. Maybe someone with a better trained ear could hear it. How pronounced is it? I listen to the video of someone's 2010 SHO, but even then I couldn't hear it outside of the first video for a brief second.

Ticking is not an issue, as long as it is regular.  The injectors will do that.  In fact, the entire DI setup, if you take the engine cover off, sounds like a diesel engine, which it kind of is.  Most people hear a very brief 1-2 second rattle, maybe like a marble in a tin box or a rattlesnake even, at cold startup.  This is due to lack of oil pressure in the phasers/timing chain area, most likely, so it is important to use the right weight oil as spec'd in the OM, and the OEM Motorcraft filter where the ADBV allows for quicker oil flow at cold start.  Don't overdo the OIC, as dirt in the oil can clog the phaser screens.

Timing chain rattle is very distinctive, caused by excessive slack in the chain, and may not be just at startup.  To be sure, you should use a mechanic's stethescope or a LONG screwdriver, place it on the timing cover area and take a good listen as you remote start (or have someone start) the engine.  Videos on YT, on the F150, very plainly heard.

Interesting.  I get a bit of a rattle when I use the remote start in the morning, I didn't think much about it.  I'll try to reproduce it later and see if it lines up with the info in that thread.

I was wondering if anyone mixing E85 was experiencing this cold start rattle,. Gasoline is added to E85 to improve its cold start characteristics and could possibly play an important role to this rattle.  Z

I'm currently running a Torrie 20% e85 tune. I still have this issue on occasion.

No issue on the 2013 or 2015.

Currently on an Unleashed E20 tune.

I changed my oil to Amsoil in the PTU and the Engine today, so she is sounding perfect atm. No pings, no dings, no knocks, pulls hard and I just love this car!

I get this on my 2010 MKS and would be louder the colder it starts from. Then again i get a squeaking sound from my belt during start up die to it being too lose and that could also cause the tensioner spring to rattle more.

After running bg EPR before an oil change i managed to almost make the noise non existent also put a can of bg moa after the change.
