How to go about new performance tires?

Ok I have the crappy eagle F1 supercars on my 20s sitting in my basement and the tires are worn down to the cords after 14K miles. I had two sets of these same tires on my M6 and they were the worst tires I have ever owned (10K miles). I like pilot sports so I think I want a set of those next. Also I think I want to go with wider tires. What have people seen with the Michelin/widening combo? Will they last longer than the Goodyear garbage?

I am 14k miles on my Michelin A/S3's. Can't say enough about them, they are great. I prefer an all season for my dd, they perform unlike any all season I have had.

I'll second that. I got the A/S3s about 8k miles ago, definitely worth the money. They stick like glue, better then most summer performance tires. The best part is, they actually last a long time.

Agreed on the AS/3's...not sure mine are lasting a long time though.  That may have something to do with my driving. :)

I currently have Yokohama Yk580 and need to replace them was thinking about getting some nittos any suggestions for Performance tires? No snow here lol.

I would get Michelin Pilot Super Sports if I chose that category of Tire.  Not everyone is willing to fork out the money for them however, so I'm not sure what to advise as a budget tire.  I ran some Coopers on my old GT, they were awesome, cheap too.

I wanted to get the super sports, around the same price as the A/S3 but the tread warranty is only 25k miles compared to the 45k mile on the A/S3. I have zero problems with the a/s3 in Florida, loads of grip, nice and quiet

Got my Pilot Sport AS3's installed 2 weeks ago and love them.  Excellent grip.  Coming from the Primacy MXM4, it's a huge difference, as expected coming from a grand touring tire.  Wanted all seasons since we do get some snow, but nothing that would require Alpin's or Blizzaks.  Original's were F1's which many of us are familiar with.

I have the A/S 2 or 3 on the m6 and they are better at being performance tires than the f1's were. The last set also lasted almost 20000 miles so that's a plus. I was still considering going with wider tires though so whoever has done wider tires what size are you running and how is your speedometer with them?

I personally have 255-45-20 and believe its about 1/2 inch wider and notice better handling which could always be contributed to a harder sidewall tire.

Don't know where to ask this question but what oil are yall using or recommend for the SHO?

There are quite a few full synthetics like Amsoil,Royal purple,Redline, but also the key is making sure to use a Motorcraft oil filter FL-500S,by the way nice ride partner.

I just switched to Motorcraft full synthetic for my '14 Flex

Motorcraft full synthetic = poop ..it shears something terrible and loses viscosity in a short time verified by used oil analysis

It's not really synthetic...its hydrocracked refined petroleum ..group III

What u want is group IV/V that's the true synthetic base stock...most of the synthetics on the shelf at the store is fake synthetic including Mobil 1....big oil has successfully pulled the sheets over everyone's heads...

It's kind of a loop hole that's been fully taken advantage of by big oil

I was thinking of switching oils. What would you recommend that wouldn't void warranty?

Well after some of the stuff I've been reading it's hard not to run amsoil. Also according to some reports of claims against ford, they can't void a warranty even if u don't use an oil that doesn't meet their spec and or is Api certed...but that's all a non issue now as amsoils entire line meets fords specs.

From the sound of it amsoil finally just figured it was worthwhile to get the certification to stop the people from having the excuse of don't use amsoil because it's not certified ...I didn't know this but not all of royal purple is synthetic...only their top tier oil is...

Read up on group Iv/v oils...I always thought Castrol syntec and edge and mobil 1 were top tier until I read up on it

I'm not really an amsoil lover but I do like them....it looks like any of the companies that use true synthetic base stocks as in group IV/V oil u really can go wrong with...like redline amsoil and royal purple top shelf.

Amsoil also has a cheaper line as well it's called oe and xl..look on their website and select by model
