Took the saw and cut out grill blades carefully and then the dremel. Then some file/sanding by hand, all without removing the bumper..Next the lower grill this weekend. Not bad for 26 bucks and 2hrs work..need to make a few more shaving ajustments so the grill trim looks perfect/flush.

Cut a slit into mesh so it fits onto the tabs that are molded into the stock chrome piece and tuck it in tight..or you can go to the link posted above for tips and tricks..3m foam tape I used too..tested on highway and nice and secure.

Its a 2010 w/pp 25,000 miles and never any problems..just the chrome taillight peeling and fixed that with plasti dip. and just the PTU TSB 10-14-2 vent kit.

Came out great. Love the look. Curious what you used for the channel/beading that covers the cut edge of the remaining grill. Also what did you use for mesh, and how did you attach the mesh. You know what they say about imitation, and I'd copy that mod in a NY minute.

Definitely going to have to do this. The only question I have is what size slit in the trim did you use? I'm looking on customcargrills.com and not sure whether to get 1/16" or 1/8" (1st or 2nd option).

I used door trim from autozone, I used a heat gun on low to losing it up a bit for a easy install..If you take your time it will come out great..just tape chrome shave/file carefully till nice and neat.

or the Neoprene Rubber Edge Trim XXL.. 1/8" is what im going to replace the autozone stuff with.

Looks super! .... I do think the black grill surround looks excellent on your ride!

It'll be interesting to see what you decide.

Like that snow pic!  I think if the surround had a slight contrast to the mesh to offer some delineation/transition, it would look good even in darker shots.  IMHO.

Think I'm going to do this

yes I too want to do this as i am not a fan of the 2010-2012 grills.. with a decent mesh with the center cut out it looks awesome. I really admire the craftmanshift too. Doesn't look to difficult at all. I will be trying this in the summer.

Photobucket's been having issues on and off lately.  But it looks like the images have been moved or deleted.

I know this is old, but I just discovered it lol. That's a sweet looking grill! I want to do that to my 13, but I have to see if I can pull it off without removing the bumper. Very nice work

I know the grill surround comes out easily without bumper removal, but the actual grill requires some work to remove, I had my surround off and was going to pull the grill as well, but couldn't see a way to do it without a bumper removal.
