Would adding a splash of e/85 help reduce the soot also? Didn't start mixing until winter blend hit us and am wondering about its effect. Something I won't personally be able to see for months right now.IHeartGroceries said:The carbon soot is from fuel. It is related to the stratified burn that takes place during cold start.
And also very likely from WOT as the mixture riches very quicky. It is a phenomenon found on all DI equipped vehicles.
Fuel volatility can likely make it intensify or subside, which explains any seasonal variations in the soot deposits.
Thanks for the info!IHeartGroceries said:Actually, I did read a study which suggested E blends do effectively reduce soot and NOx emissions. Although, for their study, they used E85 exclusively. So, I'll bet you might note a reduction in soot by blending in a couple or three gallons.
Yup, 5k intervals.IHeartGroceries said:You're using a zero weight motor oil?
