I have an appt thursday at my friendly dealer to perform an induction cleaning and after that process to have an oil change, will definetly share and update any findings on the topic.  Z
Mechanical or chemical cleaning? What do you think about the new CRC induction and valve cleaner they are advertising for GDI? http://crcindustries.com/auto/intake-valve-cleaner.php
They claim the chemical as safe but nowhere do I see them claim that that 46% of crap that comes off in the first hour is safe in your cylinders and turbos.
Iys probably as safe as the ACES product!!Honestly dont want to start a debate on this but truely nothing is 100 percent proven safe in the long run,not even gasoline,if your experiencing a rough idle along with poor mpg with a noticeable loss of power and your dealer is offering to perform an induction cleaning for free under warranty,my response would be why not,if it does rectify my symptoms, personaly my rough idle started around 5k which sounds to me its related to the carbon just starting(forming). BTW wish we all focused more on a catch can being our first mod over a tune respectivly and avoiding this (clutter)of buildup overtime.  Z

The only time a meth kit or catch can will be effective against carbon buildup is on the early stages of owning your vehicle, predominantly when your vehicle is roughly new, believe the same goes for the chemical intake cleaners, personaly dont think any of the mentioned products, mods will help in the later stages ,especially with excessive mileage, jusy my 2 cent.  Z

Yeah, the longer you wait, the more hardcore you'll have to get to fix the problem.  Same as anything else.  Our bodies learn to adapt to the environment we expose them to, and with so much computer power behind them, so do our vehicles.  Vehicles nowadays are treated as "throwaways" and not "collectibles", so the owner has to take that extra care right from the start.

I would run from that dealer. Doing "warranty work" based upon what the customer says without verifying the concern violates Ford policy. I assure you the techs have boroscopes and this service procedure doesn't exist in the manual. If they have such little regard for their commitments to Ford, I seriously doubt they'd hesitate to screw you over.

Most likely they are throwing you a bone and internalling it through the dealer. I would also question why they are offering to do this when the only info available from Ford is against this. All recommended maintenance can be found in your owners manual, period. if i were you, I'd bring up these concerns with chemicals overheating turbos and chunks of debris taking out components. Then I would ask them to call the Ford hotline and discuss it with them before having this done.

Also, say we were to use the stuff Big Mac mentioned in pots 15, where in the intake stream and how would that be sprayed out of the can?  I'm assuming closest to TB but where to get it in is the question.

This an old topic that all of a sudden just came back from the dead, appreciate your insight on this topic FoMoCoSHO ,will see what i can exactly DIG UP tomorrow on the procedure, protocol with pics to follow.  Z

I think there are directions on how the procedure exactly is performed, usually inserting the straw inside the TB with the vehicle running, actually as mentioned a while back quite a few members had great results using a similiar product with roughly about 20k  on the OD,now if your going to wait until you have excessive mileage of course caution should be advised with possibly chunks of debris damaging your turbos and all . Great info SHOdded, you surely shed some light on the topic,BTW guess i was wrong from the start, heck what do i know anyway.  LOL  Z  ;) ;)

Interesting article Manu.... Most interesting is the pic where there are layers of gunk deposited on the intake port effectively reducing diameter.

I just wanted to update everyone as promised earlier on any updates or findings based on the topic, today visited my dear friendly dealer and had a induction cleaning which consists of a two part fuel kit, first they cleaned the throttle body and wiped it downed gently, then they used the product with pics below and truely amazed at the increased in performance, after that had an oil changr done and quite honestly impressed, the best part it was free actually it cost me a round of cold ones.lol .Z

Need a little SOMETHING to get that stubborn gunk off of those fuel injector pintles ;)  Glad to hear it made a difference, Z.  Did they say when the next service should be?  Esp the FI cleaner?
