What a day! Great weather, great sponsor and great SHO folks to hang out with. I was able to make a total of 12 passes. Started the day off with a PR of 12.59. Was in the 12.6's quite a bit. Then came non hook up time. Not sure what happen but it was like all of us was running on ice. Much of the issue was attributed to the tires getting gummed up with old tire residue. I started running through the water box, doing burnouts which helped burn off some of the residue. Also between passes I did quite a few hard swerves back and forth to again help remove the gunk on the tires. Ultimately pass #11 was my best time at 12.58. Here are the specifics:
Reaction 0.3510
60' 1.8180
330' 5.2189
1/8 8.0810 @86.88
1/4 12.5880 @ 109.44
I was great to meet everyone today. It was fun to see what others had done to their cars and personalize them. Also it was refreshing to see each other share unselfishly tips and pointers to help in their endeavors to go fast. While we were there to individually go fast, it seemed were working as a team to help one another. A special thanks goes out to ShonUup for all his wisdom and tips.
Another element of the day that I think needs to be shared is 'Dan the man' at LMS. One of our fellow SHO folks knew his car had more in it however it was not showing in the time slips. Dan was gracious enough to help tune his car right there on the spot and was able to shave at least a tenth of his time. I watched Dan and thought 'Wow' what great customer service. Also got to hang out with Dan a little bit at the tree. He gave me some advise on launching and picking you lines. Thank you Dan!
Lastly it was complete awesomeness watching BOOSTD SHO's car do 11.67. That's insane! The car launched great and just kept pulling all the way. I believe his top speed was 119ish.
Anyways thanks again LMS and thanks to all that attended. I look forward to doing it again in the fall.
PS - there should be lots of pictures posted at some point. One of the guys buddies brought his camera and took some great photos. I can't wait to see them all.
