LMS Downpipe Install - Throwing DTC Codes!

Yup they need to give you the correct tune for it. Had this same issue, they eventually updated their website to state the  catted dp is for off road use only (though it was not the case when I bought mine). Fyi these will not pass readiness checks, if your state does those, you're sol come time to pass emissions

CO does a visual check to see if you have cats/o2 sensors installed - not sure how closely they know the OE vs Aftermarket parts...
Guess I will find out in two years (when the 4 year exemption for new cars runs out)!

At worst, you can return to stock pipes & tune, get the readiness monitors ready, and THEN go in for the testing.  A few people do that already.

I figure ill either be in a new vehicle or just pay the fine lol. Easier than swapping pipes over and over. Still have a few years left till I need it done as well. I love the turbo sound I can hear now because of the dps though, music to my ears

What's the point of catted pipes if they won't pass I/M monitors?

Have to agree.
As far as the cats... For readiness the visual will look for a CARB number on the cats.  The OBD will fail readiness because the o2senors behind cats are turned off and so emissions equipment is not working... In AZ we have to spend up to $400 on repairs and then recheck...
Frankly why I went PPE with cats... Only lose 5 WHP compared to non catted and no DTC or O2 sensor turn off... Also no DTC or CEL even with stock tune on catted version.... So I can easily flash back for dealer service.

Luckily for me - In the last few years, Colorado has started doing RapidScreen, which is a mobile drive-by emission station, which they setup on highway onramps.  It sniffs your exhaust as you accelerate onto the highway, and gives you a (hopefully) clean bill of health.  When you are due for emissions (every other year), if you have run through these mobile stations within the previous year, you just pay for a new sticker - no visiting the test facility or visual inspection.  Yay for efficiency!

Now, as long as the cats are good enough to pass the sniffer, I'm good! :x:

I guess thats the beauty of the PPE DP from 4DRHTRD,ECOPOWERPARTS have them on my car for about 16months and no codes no nothing nada, especially stock tune where quite often make a 120 mile round trip to my dealer for service, and also my state being strict with passing emmissions testing really made it beneficial, prior to testing would just put the stock tune back and prior to visiting the inspection station would just plug in my OBDLINK MX adapter and just moinitor it with torque pro and it will SHO me when its ready,BTW never heard of PPE DP prior to joining this forum, with SHOdded and the one and only BiGMaC was steered in the right direction and will always be thankful for there advice and knowledge on the ecoboost platform. BiGMaC,
Do you pass emissions with the tune, or return to stock tune for readiness?
Recommend stock tune with 2BAR as Z says ... The PPEs are 49 states legal and after a 40-50 mile driving cycle OBD readiness passes... California is the only state I'm not sure of... Maybe someone can chime in.

Damn - Should have done more research...
I looked at the PPE pipes earlier this year, but got in a hurry this summer, and popped for the LMS's, while I was ordering the tuner.

Anyway - I gotta think about this - I'm gonna take a bath if I try to change, but would save me some hassles later...

Anybody interested in a lightly used set of LMS downpipes?  :-[ ;D

I guess we all learn from our mistakes, also had the same issue with my 1st set of stage 3 catted DP and they thu codes instantly, then purchased the PPE DP and installed them myself which was quite easier the 2nd time around due to the antiseize on the bolts.BTW MileHigh until testing day let the SHO begin and enjoy that permanent grin you receive once loading your tune, also there is a battery relearn procedure to follow which might be beneficial. Welcome to EBPF, sorry to hear your vehicle is having issues!
You are right, exhaust leak would be a good suspect.  Sometimes you need to install new gaskets, even doubling up on them to make sure the seal is good & tight.
O2 wires often get nicked in the process, and then the sensor has to be replaced.
What brand of plugs are you using?  Did you use new plugs or re-gap the old ones?  If old, how many miles on them?
Ford has a TSB for concurrent p0420 and p0430 codes, but if you do choose to recalibrate, return your SHO to stock before having it done.  Then get the new strategy code and have your tuner update the tune accordingly before re-installing on the SHO.

May need wheel hubs replaced due to that C1B00 code.  See more details here:

What gaskets do you recommend? I just got my catted LMS DP's and I am about to install them.

The stock ones will work with the LMS DP?

Yes that is what I used. Mine are non catted not sure if there is a difference or not. Just had them installed last weekend no issues with air leaks.
