Mega squirt piggyback

Hi all so who would like to help me put together info on doing a piggy back ecu? Then after that a standalone ecu from megasquirt?

I did some searching don't remember but I saw one turbo vehicle using just a aem fuel/ignition controler. Seems easy basically just allows you to add boost and it has maps so it's alot like a standalone.
The complicated part of this other than initial software twerking will be needing to make plugs to go into the stock ecu harness with connectors to send none tweeked stuff still to the pcm and others to aem controller then back to pcm and all this in a fashion where it will just plug in so that there is no worry of voiding warranty.
I'm sure this bored people so and post is what I need help with specifically.

What I need help with is a wire diagram for the ecu/pcm mainly also what connector the ecu uses as like my 01 impreza uses jec 93. Thank you.

Well guess aem piggy back won't work because of vct. Aem software doesn't have control for this. So a mega squirt piggy back and standalone it is.

Dont do it.....piggy backs were vehicles that didnt have good tuning solutions...we dont have that problem...we have sct, hp, lms

What is your goals?...you will lose factory operations with a standalone.thats assuming you can even get support for it

Its just a bad idea

Whay are u trying to achieve that you think you need a standalone for?

Megasquirt as a stand alone does not support DI. As far as I know there is no stand alone that can drive the DI injectors because there is no standard on voltage etc. Its always best to go with the OEM ECU if it can accomplish your goals. Typically piggybacks are used when you do not have the ability to change the parameters in the stock ECU. What are you looking to do that the stock ECU won't?

There are 3 vehicles that have been on the road with piggybacks, mine with splitsec ECU which sucked horribly, Todd and Jacob's SHO which both have ProEFI 48 which work awesome.
The ProEFI48 requires you to tap into the factory harness for ignition timing, install 2 additional WBO2 and a 3 bar MAP sensor (they use a 5 bar). The piggyback controls the aux fuel injectors only and it's a self tuning ECU like the stock ECU. To simplify what is being done both are commanded to hit say .74 LAMBDA, the only time the ProEFI ECU does anything is above X PSI, below that factory ECU is doing all of the fueling.

If you want additional information contact Erick at Leading Edge Tuning.

I want to be able to make the car a little faster but have no worries of voiding warranty so I want to make a ecu to just plug in

If you want something that can control the DI and add aux injection, do flex fuel, awesome traction control look at the Motek ECU:

It is EXPENSIVE but can do everything and then some for this platform.

BTW, I'm familiar with the mega/microsquirt ECU's. The ProEFI situation happened because I'm local with the company and they will do custom integration on the fly if needed.
Mega/microsquirt is more of a figure it out yourself scenario and I didn't want to mess with that.

Chances are the programmers at megasquirt can write something to deal with different voltage

You're not going to get Megasquirt to work with DI directly, just FYI.

Megasquirt is cheaper and I'm fine to figure out the nitty gritty so others not as determined or people giving up before they start will have a place to go.
plan is to get everything documented and put a place on diyautotune where they can order everything needed everyone said that getting more power from a gtr was near impossible because the ecu was so entwined that it would freak out from the smallest change bit now we have 2500hp gtrs it has to start somewhere

OK so I found to make di work is the ecu needs to be programmable in a 3d type map load and rpm megasquirt tuning software doesn't have that yet

Nope, trust me we have been down that road. EVERYONE wants megasquirt for DI. You are over thinking this, SCT and custom tunes is the way to go, you won't void your warranty. You have a better chance of that messing with a piggyback or standalone. As you can see above the only piggybacks where for special use cases.

$400 for an SCT with 1 tune from Torrie at Unleashed and you will be in business, another $50ish for a 3bar map. If you wait for a deal, often you can get 2 tunes for that price. You will be VERY happy with the results and you wont have any warranty issues if you follow the rules.

If you're trying to avoid getting a tune and going with an aftermarket ECU or piggybacking to control factory injectors and timing you're going down a very difficult path. It's like the option to get from Phoenix to Vegas. You can fly or walk and you're choosing to walk. Don't take this option you'll get there eventually but it will be very very very expensive in both time and resources to make this happen.

Also I really want to be able to switch tunes on the fly have an eco mode and a race mode
