More SHO carnage :(

Well got the SHO back from the autobody shop and it looks great!  They did a top notch job and turned it around quick.  They even argued with my insurance company to get an OEM replacement door.

Only downside is as a courtesy they filled up my car with gas...apparently 87 Octane - only good news is that I had some 93 in there already so it wasn't straight 87.  Doh...For anyone wondering the "learned octane gauge" in Torque works - I'm just not sure exactly what the numbers mean.  It jumped to 106.6 from 100 (where it usually sits) and I can tell the car is slower even at part throttle.  I'm also glad I checked before I went WOT.  It has to be using low octane secondary tables because it isn't knocking at all.  Thank goodness for this cars ECU...

Glad to hear they did a good job. We dropped off car yesterday and gave specific instructions to not put fuel in it. Wife dropped it off and said the guy chuckled at that and assured her they don't put gas in...lol

Stock tune with the fuel and no knock?

Rich

Great to hear the SHO is back in fighting form!  Drive really slow, annoy a lot of people, until that "gas" burns up ;)

Actually no - the 93 tune was still in there and I drove it all the way home - Learned Octane gauge at 106 and No knock - granted I didn't go anywhere close to WOT.  (I threw the stock code back in this morning just to be safe)  I don't really know what the effective Octane is at the moment since it had some 93 in it but it obviously can't be that bad...

I never would have thought they'd put gas in it LOL...and yes I am driving nice and slow until that gas is all gone.

OMG, ouch.  Glad your wife is OK.  Basically you cant fix stupid or kill it either.  It seems to be all about me anymore and get out of my way.

You certainly can kill stupid, Darwin's proved it many many times. :D

Good to see the wife came out unscathed and the car is back in service.

On the topic of the idiot getting off without any repercussions. I had a similar incident but I actually wound up hitting a minivan with my motorcycle because someone made an illegal turn in front of the minivan. In a car I could have stopped easily, but on a motorcycle you can only brake so hard to not go flying over the bars.  Not to mention the front end washed out in a huge patch of road gravel during my attempt to avoid the minivan.  I had to eat a ticket for the bull$%*t move of another driver.

People do not understand the dynamics of motorcycles/motorcyclists, and I confess I am one of them.  I usually give them at least as wide a berth as I do with cars, but someone always ends up cutting in.

Sweet! I work in Apple Valley, but I reside in Minnetonka. We'll have to get together to have a beer one day! :alkashi:

Independent. Well known and liked in the area though. Not my insurance companies choice either.
