Hello,

I'm a new SHO owner. I just sold my '13 Full bolt on GT. I bought a '13 PP SHO with 25k miles and it's. CPO with a bumper to bumper until mid '19 or 100k. I look forward to looking around the site. I won't do anything to effect the warranty. I do want he lower the rear!!

I feel bad for you

Welcome coop!

Just food for thought...a tune may not affect the warranty provided you make sure to return to stock tune for any dealer visit.

Fixed that for you, if you have a tune, and a non tune related problem arises, there will be no issue at all. if you have a tune and an engine/powertrain issue occurs, even if returned to stock, the dealer may be suspicious based on what they see in the ECM. If it is a bad enough issue, the ECM is sent to dearborne, and the ford engineers there look at it, in which case if they detect that a tune was loaded in the past, they can void the warranty.

Still a very slim chance of issue, especially with a well known tuner.

All that said, I swore I would hang on for my 6yrs/60k, but now I have axlebacks, CAI, crash gauge pod with Boost and A/F, and an AJP tune on the car, and soon catless downpipes as well.

Congrats coop, hope we can help make the transition easier!  The only bolton mods I would do are catted downpipes, dropin K&N filter, tstat, tune and 3bar map.  Least chance of raising eyebrows.  Stick with a reputable tuner. And keep the device and 2 bar map handy for whenever you have to swap it out.  NO worries.  Upgrade the fluids if you like for an extra kick.

Great info posted above already.

Congrats on the new ride and lowering was also one of my first mods. They have entirely too much rake with stock springs in my opinion

Thanks to everyone for the kind words! Who is the most preferred tuner? What's the power difference if I did a 87 tune without changing the 3bar map etc vs a 87 with changing and a 93 with changing as well. Just trying to justify!

What are people doing for springs? I see some just cut the rear 1/2 coil.I'm

There are 3 preferred tuners.  All 3 have excellent history and results.

Unleashed - tunes remotely via SCT. www.unleashedtuning.com
AJP - tunes remotely via SCT. contact through this board
Livernois - canned tunes via MyCal. www.livernoismotorsports.com

I am not a fan of 87 tunes.  The factory is already an 87 tune that is on edge and pulls timing.  To improve performance with 87 fuel generally requires removing safeguards like torque limiting.  The little room left in timing/boost adjustments with 87 fuel doesn't justify the money spent on tuning in my opinion.

I should asterisk the above by saying that I would not run 87 even if untuned.  Even stock you will have less power and decreased fuel economy.  If running 87 is a goal, this is a bad choice of vehicle.

Tuning with 93 will shave more than a second off the quarter mile times and makes the car much more fun overall.

I have LMS stage one (CAI, new tstat, three bar) and it's pretty drastic change from stock and for under 1k best bang for your buck IMO)

Hit the nail on the head, though I would have put AJP first, as he is super detailed with letting you know what he has changed on revisions, his reasoning, etc.

87 tunes are useless, as he said, and IMO pretty unsafe. 91/93 there is maybe 10-15 hp on the table and probably about the same torque wise, though you can definitely get more once the 93 tune is dialed in.

3 bar is definitely worth it for the $50 or less it costs, as I run 14.5psi/15psi on my tunes and both of those levels are on the edge/past the limit of the 2 bar. CAI isn't really a major difference, but it does look nice, same for exhaust.

I would start by doing an AJP Tune, and 3 bar, and go from there. After tune, the next major improvement can be had from downpipes.

I should have stated that my list was not in a particular order.  There are excellent reasons to chose any of them.  Of the three, I have not tried Livernois myself, but may soon.

Thanks so much! I ran 93 only in My mustang Gt. I was just curious. My biggest concern in the warranty. I do know a ford technician that can help me out on that front. I paid for the extra warranty, so I want to be able to do maintain that for as long as possible. I won't do exhaust as I'm not a 4/6 cyl exhaust sound guy. Sounds fine as is. Not looking to race the car, but a little more go would be nice. I'll keep my options open.

What is everyone doing for springs? Cutting stock rears?

Some people have done cut stock rears, with what seem to be good results, keep in mind if you do that, and have a suspension issue, warranty will be voided.

You could also do H&R all around, or just in the rear, OR get a second set of stock springs to keep in case an issue arises.

There are also coilovers but that may be going to far for what you want.

For a bit more go, a tune will definitely be the key. I still have completely stock driveability when I keep my foot out, foot in it, and the car has a lot more bite.

I didn't think about the warranty issue with he springs.  I may look for another set of springs. As far as Tune goes, I need to verify it won't void the warranty. If I can get away with it, I'll pull the trigger.
