Also, Brake pistons are cross drilled for cooling and they have silicone piston boots. No dust shield on front rotors. Small, but important upgrades.

After being parked next to a PP SHO and being unable to find any differences I had my dealership contact do some research.

His research indicated the only difference is the pad and as Needmoreboost alluded to, the booster calibration.

So...we can use those kits that Powerstop now has?

I like that top cop kit; Z37 ceramic pads.

Yup. I'm down for top cop also.

I have a hard time believing any PD would spend the cash to equip their vehicles with slotted and drilled rotors though.

I'm still working on it.

This just reminded me, I have to resend the E-mail.

I know this about 2013 brakes and POWERSTOP BUT I LOVE MY POWERSTOP on my PP CAR!! My kit came with carbon/ceramic pads great stopping power and no dust.

Are people experiencing performance issues with the stock brake components or is this just more of a cosmetic / 'feed the mod bug' thing? I've driven my car hard into corners (100mph+ to 35mph, threshold braking) and I've never noticed any sign of brake fade. I've even hit multiple corners in a row like this to try and get the brakes to fade, no luck. I wouldn't hesitate to take it to a track day with the stock brake setup. The only thing I may do differently when the time comes to do my brakes is go with EBC pads.

Because of the improved brakes on the 2013 SHO and their performance so far I would echo dm's thoughts... but there's nothing wrong with better or prettier.

I feel my 2013 brakes are better than the 10-12s i have driven but they suck. Now granted my grand prix gxp was lighter but the brake set up is similar close to same size rotors and both i belive are twin liston calipers. Both apear to be pbr brakes. But on a non threashold but agressive braking i jotice them fading and they sure changed there sound and pedal feel. My phaeton which was heavier and my my stock audi s4 and my audi s4 with 993 brembos all have had so much better braking, durability and pedal feel. My wife has driven all but the stock s4 and she has complaigned about the brakes on the sho.  She called it truck like. And asked me what i could do about it.. i tryed to sell her on the big brake kit..she said that was to much....lol wo i gotta try the cheaper options first.
And when i checked last week ebc doesnt have front rotors for the 2013+ sho

I swore when i lokked i dint see them listed. I looked at,that because i couldn't find ebc front rotors listed on any on line store

I still do not see them listed in an actual store!  Don't know if the rotors actually hit production.

Brakes are fine.

However I'm going to change them for appearance when they are done and need replacement.

I've seen a people run into problems with those cheaper 'performance' aftermarket brake components. My personal approach, especially on newer vehicles like ours, is to either pay up for high-end stuff or stick with OEM parts. A lot of those cheaper slotted or cross-drilled rotors look cool but the core rotors they start with are not always the highest quality parts (prone to warping). I haven't had to shop brake parts for my SHO yet so I'm just talking in general terms here and tossing my comments out there as food for though.

Powerstop is pretty reputable. I had them on my F250 diesel.

Sent from my mobile, I think.

Any recommendations for just front pad replacements?  I have heard people mention porterfield before.  I may just turn the rotors and put on new pads.  Do not like the feel of the stock ones once they heat up a little.

I used Porterfield extensively on several project cars, their shop is only 1/2 mile from mine(when the wind blows the 'wrong' direction It stinks like truck brakes on a 5 mile downhill stretch :yuk:) and I've used the R4S's on most. If you *really* get them hot(roadrace on a long track like Fontana) they can overheat and chunk bits of themselves onto the rotors.  I don't think we have any RoadRace guys here tho?  Anyway, there will be MORE dust than stock and be prepared Geswek to have to listen to the crosdrilled rotors 'sing' every time you use them. Sounds cool at first, quickly becomes annoying if you do much window down driving.

What is annoying to some is music to others .

Hence the open aftermarket clutchbasket covers on Ducati's, I think those guys are nuts :bangin:  I ride a Ducati and would never consider one of those...
