Random thoughts for the day

Just threw out an old Sony 32" that weighed enough to crush someone.

Thing actually had a seat belt. Clicked into back of TV and to the stand...lol

So i just bought a 48" tv and the box was 50 x 30x 5" and it fit in the trunk...i put my seats down then realized i could put them up...so the box fit in the trunk only....thats just rediculous

But more rediculous is my old crt  34 " sony high def is 196 lbs and this new thing is 28 lbs its laughable
Got a 207lb 32" crt tv in the basement. Wife wants to get a monster for the living room and move the little 55" into the basement. I don't look forward to lugging a tv upstairs that weighs more than me.

I had the same problem. Had a 36 inch Mitsubishi in the basement and I can't even remember the weight but that monster was heavy. Worked fine so I found someone to give it to as long as they picked it up. They were happy as they grunted up the stairs and I'm happy it's gone!  Win/Win

Larry, I had the same issue except no one wanted mine.  I ended up taking it apart and hauling it out in pieces.  Even the picture tube was a heavy beast, though!

Yes Bruce I too found disposal can be expensive. After the concrete Mitsubishi, I bought a 50 inch rear projection Sony that started misbehaving after a few years. Sony accepted a big chunk of responsibility and gave me a large allowance toward a replacement 55 inch LCD. I had to dispose of the rear projection on my own though. I had to pay my trash hauling company $50 for a special trip and the set had to be curbside. At least it was not heavy. lol

Larry... I applaud your environmental responsibility.... I would have jus thown it in my dumpster and flattened it with a large sledgehammer.

Tom thanks for the compliment but I really don't deserve the mantle of responsibility. I did plenty of environmentally irresponsible things in my youth and I would guess that's probably my natural bent. After many years of marriage, my wife has had a slow and steady effect on my behavior.

My son at dinner last night didn't realise he used the Siracha infused catsup...thanks God I had my phone out!

I just wanted to update this article which i found on the 2015 Ford explorer having an issue with brake hoses, hope this helps someone out.  Z    October 3, 2015 — Ford Explorer Police Interceptor SUVs will get a closer look as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) expands its investigation into brake hose problems. The original investigation was opened in May 2015, after complaints about problems with the front brake jounce hoses that can cause a sudden loss of braking.

NHTSA opened the investigation with 10,000 of the model year 2015 Explorer SUVs involved, but that number has grown to 20,000.  Full article can be found on this link.          http://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2015/investigation-ford-explorer-police-interceptors.shtml
