Random thoughts for the day

Good info Z.... Also glad you're finally getting that windshield... And that the supply chain appears to have caught up with demand.

Thanx Tom just received a call from Safelite and there pushing my appt to wed 9/2 because the glass is coming from a Ford dealer out in mid-west,hope there not B.S ME.  Z

Any of you folks from Canadia into those Blue Jays? Not too shabby eh?

I was in Toronto last march for a weekend getaway...I was impressed with how many people had snow tires on their cars....I wish all the retards in Pittsburgh would do the same

I have an appt tomorrow to finally have my windshield installed after almost waiting two months for an oem glass,so figured i'll give Safelite a call to confirm my appt and to verify that they have the glass before making the trip to a different state, spoke with the manager of safelite and tells me the same story since day one(NO ETA )UNREAL. BTW cant mention the rest that was said after that.  Z    >:( >:(

Man these guys need to get their act together!!!  Sorry you have to face such delays, Z, it is intolerable.

Well I traded the 2010 SHO-59625 miles.  New-2016 X Sport-all bells and whistles. Got a good deal-considering SHO would need some wheel reconditioning-new rear tail lamp-an inch of water inside, and rear back-up sensors needed replaced.  Now i see they have dropped the price to $20,995 from original asking price of $29,995. HUH???  Guess the drop of 9K looks good in the copy-but the 29,995 is what I paid 5 years gone by.  I guess that is why the dealers are in the business.

Safelite do hack jobs. I used to work at binswenger glass and did automotive and commercial glass installs and we aaaaalways had safelite customers come to us because their jobs were jacked up

I would definetly put Safelite on the avoid list,BTW they called me last thurday and friday to schedule an appt and after that they send me an email that the camera built in the windshield needs to be recalibrated by the Ford dealer.ummm. Z        Windshield Service Notice

Thank you for choosing Safelite AutoGlass! We are looking forward to seeing you on Monday, August 31, 2015 at 8:00 AM.
As a reminder, your windshield is fitted with a forward-facing camera linked to an advanced driver assistance system. Some vehicle manufacturers require a recalibration of the camera system after a windshield replacement. You must check with your vehicle manufacturer in order to determine whether the camera system must be recalibrated. If so, you must go to a dealership (or other qualified specialist) to have your camera system recalibrated as soon as possible after the replacement of your windshield.
NOTE: The camera may not operate properly until it has been recalibrated. Some camera systems have a warning symbol or a message MAY appear if the system is not operating properly, so you should not rely on the operation of camera-linked systems until the camera SYSTEM has been properly recalibrated.

Good info Z
I will say that with the OEM widshield I have never had to recalibrate... Even done theough the dealer.  Thought the camera on the windshield only was used to measure refraction of light to turn on the automatic wipers and control their speed... Does it do other things?

My window was removed and replaced and I was told nothing about the recal. I will ask the Mrs to find out if this is an issue with our cars.

I'not quite sure, but it could be related to the collision warning system on the non PP SHO.  Z        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2o5BtSlbJ4          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6UeVkFoQNo

According to ford the camera is part of the lane keeping system and does need to be calibrated after replacing the windshield.

Wonder what that entails since my windshield is being replaced next Tuesday.

Likely a dealer trip dfw.  I don't have lane keeping on the '13... Never had a problem with the collision avoidance system except scaring passengers, LOL.  PROBABLY WHY I never had a problem.
