Rear Ended

If anyone was curious what your SHO would look like if a truck runs into it at about 60 MPH, here are a few pics of my poor car.  My two kids were in the backseat and walked away with just some bruises and scrapes.  I can literally say that my SHO saved my kids lives.  Now its off to the junkyard to be picked apart.  It was the best car I have ever had.  RIP

Damn.

Good Lord.

Glad everyone's ok all things considered.

Now go get you a replacement 2018 model year.

This is probably among the worst collisions I have seen posted on this forum, glad you and your kids walked away from it :thumb: .  Really sorry to see your SHO destroyed :cry1:, but like bpd said, it was time to get a new one anyway!

I guess now I know where the term pretzel came from!
Thankfully no one was injured during the incident and maybe a sign to take a break.  Z

Sorry you had to deal with that and really really glad you and the kids are okay. Makes me feel a little better about having my kids along with me in the SHO.

kramdraw, posted these pics on a fb page i am a part of, and you have a horde of well-wishers from there as well.  Just thought you should know.

Sheesh, thats worse than mine after it spun into both sides of the road against guardrail, etc. Glad everyone walked away, in the end thats a major reason for getting a newer car vs. an older one, safety is miles ahead of what it used to be.

That is a Mess! Texting and driving perhaps?

You say the kids are fine and all but my sister said the same thing until several months later and now has permanent back problems, and its all on her now. She was slammed into at a stop light. Don't let the insurance close the case too quickly. They know these things and want to close the case right away to avoid this expense. The idea is to take your money, not give it to you if you need it.

As everyone else has said glad things were not any worse.

Curious...actual spare tire or spare tire repair kit in the trunk?

Thanks for all the well wishes!  It was definitely more more traumatic mentally than physically.  My family is just getting over some soreness and stiffness.  Hopefully nothing permanent.

It was the repair kit.  Had intentions to get a spare at some point, but guess I don't have to worry about it now.

Glad to hear you and yours are recovering.
That is traumatic damage there, a testament to a solid car. I agree you should be in no hurry to sign away your rights to the insurance company.

Please have your children seen asap by a doctor, alot of injuries don't manifest until later, seriously, I know! Kids are not omnipotent, by the looks of that accident I would seriously have you and your kids checked out!

Yes indeed. Thank God everyone walked away. This is one of those lions den moments. Keep the prayers and intecessory prayers. Because we know not what to pray for. (Romans 8:26-29)

As others have stated young kids may not know how to explain complicated pains. Be very diligent in having something in place to cover them should they need it later

Yes X2!!

Wow! So glad everyone is ok! Must have been horrific.
Was there much intrusion into the rear seats?

(As many of you might recall, the Taurus was purpose designed to take a high speed rear impact after all the troubles Ford had with the Crown Vic in police duty.)
